Award-winning fashion photographer Jonathan Daniel Pryce (aka GarçonJon) has wielded a camera since the age of seven; his signature warm-toned photographs and hugely popular men’s style blog – the eponymous GarçonJon – have made him a mainstay on the street-style scene. A selection of his London fashion photographs, taken from new book Garçon Style, will be on show at the South Place Hotel until the end of the year, in a rare opportunity to see his work in a gallery space.
Having worked for the likes of Esquire, Vanity Fair, GQ and Mr Porter (not to mention acting as Vogue International’s resident street-style photographer), his latest project is a tribute to men’s style in all its forms. Shot over five years, it features interviews with a host of street style icons, including musician Paul Weller, artist Rainer Andreesen, and editor Blake Abbie, with a special foreword by Sir Paul Smith. From impeccable tailoring to vintage finds, the evocative images capture the myriad ways in which men express themselves sartorially.
The book is split into four chapters corresponding to the fashion capitals: New York, London, Milan and Paris. Each section’s photographs – of the men, naturally, but also the distinctive architecture and interactions – reveal the singular character of each city in the late twenty-tens.
Signed copies of Garçon Style, which is already selling out in Parisian bookshops, will be available to buy at the exhibition.
“This book has been a labour of love and includes some of my most cherished photographs from the past 5 years. I’m excited and proud to present a hand-picked selection of London portraits exclusively for South Place Hotel, revealing my view of the city that I call home.” Jonathan Daniel Price
