The Northgate is known for its sparkling culinary offering – so we’re expecting big things from its upcoming guest chef series. Kicking off this January, the series will see two of Suffolk’s top chefs joining The Northgate’s head chef Greig Young in the kitchen to cook up a one-off tasting menu. First up on 29 January is Chris Lee, owner and head chef of The Bildeston Crown – which recently retailed its 3 AA rosettes – who worked alongside Greig at The Northgate’s sister property The Packhorse Inn in Moulton.
‘I am very excited to be welcoming Chris into the kitchen and working with him to create a special menu for our guests,’ said Greig. ‘I am sure we will devise something surprising and using the best of local seasonal Suffolk produce. For this Chef’s Series, we have chosen guest chefs that share our love for our region, local produce and with a flair for fun and creativity – Chris certainly fits this bill.’
Next up on 25 March is Gordon Bleu chef and MasterChef contestant Daniel Britten.
Greig learned his craft at a 3 AA Rosette restaurant in Scotland before travelling the world, working at world-class restaurants in Australia and New Zealand. He then returned home to work at The Vineyard in Stockcross and The Wild Rabbit in Oxfordshire, and recently returned to Suffolk where he heads up the kitchen at The Northgate.
