Alto by San Carlo has a sporty new look

With Wimbledon just around the corner, the capital’s restaurants are getting in the mood with themed menus and dishes. But Selfridges’ rooftop restaurant Alto by San Carlo is taking things one step further, having undergone a tennis-inspired makeover courtesy of Lacoste.

Lacoste Takes Over Selfridges’ Alto by San Carlo

The French fashion sports brand has jazzed up the Italian restaurant for the summer season, drawing on its tennis roots. Think green striped walls and foliage hanging from the ceiling, plus images of Lacoste founder René Lacoste from the brand’s archive. Amid this space, visitors can enjoy a Wimbledon-inspired menu featuring bespoke cocktails such as the Match Point Spritz, Cucumber Deuce and the Rene.

Digital screens have also been added to Alto by San Carlo’s al fresco terrace, allowing tennis fans to catch the matches live, all while enjoying a summer drink or meal. Special Le Club Lacoste dishes include spider crab salad, risotto with green asparagus and pesto, beef fillet carpaccio and pan-fried lemon sole, which are available alongside an extensive array of pastas, meat, fish and sharing plates.

Lacoste at Selfridges

This is part of a wider collaboration between Lacoste and Selfridges. The brand has taken over the store’s second floor atrium and some of the windows, with the new runway collection on display, which was recently showcased at the Roland Garros stadium in Paris. ‘We have decided to associate our iconic brand with the power of Selfridges, repeatedly recognised as the best department store in the world. We share a strong affinity for creativity and innovation,’ said Catherine Spindler, deputy chief executive officer of Lacoste.

Lacoste was founded in 1933, with its original purpose being to provide apparel for tennis players. Although the brand has evolved over the years, it has always upheld its close affiliation with the sporting world, focusing on classic polo shirts, tennis skirts and more.

Lacoste’s takeover is running at Selfridges from today until 21 July 2024. Book at sancarlo.co.uk.
