With so few bottles in existence, this may just be the most exclusive Champagne in the world…
Armand de Brignac has just launched its newest Champagne Blanc de Blancs en Magnum, of which less than 1,000 bottles have been created globally.
The French Champagne label is known colloquially as ‘Ace of Spades’ thanks to the iconic logo which adorns the opaque metallic bottles. Instantly recognisable as one of the top Champagne houses in the world and now in its 13th generation, Armand de Brignac has gone one step further by creating its most exclusive bottle of Champagne yet – the Blanc de Blancs en Magnum.
The 10 Best-Selling Champagne Brands in the World
Made with 100% Chardonnay grapes, the Blanc de Blancs assemblage is comprised of the 2005, 2006 and 2008 vintages, which rested for seven years on lees in the cellars and one additional year on cork. ‘The result is a cuvée of great complexity and depth, with notes of baked pastry, pineapple, orange blossom and almond, with a delicate bead and lasting finish.’
With over three centuries of experience in the Champagne region in France, Armand de Brignac hand-select the best grapes from each harvest, blend a unique trio of vintages for every assemblage and even finish each bottle by hand – so, from pressing the fruit to the bottle leaving the cellars, only 18 people have touched each bottle of the world-renowned Champagne. It’s no wonder the label caught the attention of none other than Shawn Carter (aka. JAY-Z) who now owns the Champagne house.
“We were thrilled with the cuvée’s development and made the decision to finally release these magnums, disgorging them in May 2016,” says winemaker Emilien Boutillat. “They are tasting absolutely exceptional at this moment, a perfect pairing for freshly shucked oysters on a March evening”
Champagne: Trends for 2018 and where to drink it
Last week saw the launch party held at Casa Cruz in London’s Notting Hill, where celebrities and socialites enjoyed a first taste of Blanc de Blancs en Magnum – between them finishing 10 bottles of the exclusive Champagne, leaving less than 1000 left for the public to purchase.
Armand de Brignac Blanc de Blancs en Magnum can be purchased from Selfridges for £1,650, or online here. To be saved for a very special occasion…
