Hop aboard to enjoy Michelin-starred cuisine on the move
From murder mysteries to Wes Anderson-style carriages, the British Pullman is famed for its unique train experiences. The latest? A series of pop-ups hosted by acclaimed chefs – with this year’s line-up designed to spotlight women in the culinary world.
Running in partnership with champagne house Dom Pérignon, the events will see guests treated to a gastronomic feast while travelling from London to Kent and back – all amid the glamorous surroundings of the British Pullman – A Belmond Train.
Up first on 23 June is Lisa Goodwin-Allen, who earned her stripes at Champignon Sauvage in Cheltenham before being appointed head chef at the Michelin-starred Northcote Hotel & Restaurant aged just 23. She’ll be cooking a five-course tasting menu featuring the likes of wild garlic mushrooms, roasted Orkney scallop with Isle of Wight tomatoes, Lake District lamb, and British strawberries and cream with almonds.
She’ll be followed by Irish chef Anna Haugh, who opened her debut restaurant Myrtle in Chelsea in 2019. Anna will be showcasing her signature style of cooking which draws on her homeland’s culinary heritage, offering classic dishes with a contemporary twist.
Then, in September, Angela Hartnett will take to the stage. The renowned chef spent her early career working for Gordon Ramsay and Marcus Wareing before running her own restaurant at The Connaught – which won a Michelin star under her leadership. A year after being awarded an MBE for services to the hospitality industry, Angela opened Murano in Mayfair, going on to launch three more casual sister restaurants. Guests aboard the train will be treated to her modern Italian fare, learned from her Italian mother and grandmother growing up.
Finally, in October, Spanish chef Nieves Barragán Mohacho will take the reins, focusing on specialities from the different regions of Spain.
All dinners will include a bottle of Dom Pérignon Vintage 2013 for two, plus wines matched to the main course and dessert. And, of course, you’ll be treated to beautiful views of the English countryside as you meander along from the comfort of glamorous Art Deco carriages.
