Which Chefs Will Feature In The New Series Of Chef’s Table?

Netflix’s hit series Chef’s Table offers a fascinating insight into the world’s fine dining stars. Since starting back in 2015, the Emmy award-winning show has risen to cult status, offering a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the lives of a string of prominent chefs (complete with dramatic music and cinematography, which has spawned a couple of parodies). A new spin-off season has just dropped on Netflix, Chef’s Table: Noodles – with a seventh series in the pipeline for later this year, plus a special 10th anniversary edition in the works. So who is in the limelight for the next spate of releases?

What Is Chef’s Table?

For those who haven’t yet got stuck in, here’s a bit of background. Chef’s Table is an American documentary series created by director David Gelb, which has spanned six seasons – with a seventh soon to be released – alongside a number of spin-offs. Each episode tells the story of a chef from around the world, both top names and rising stars, taking viewers inside their lives and their kitchens, exploring their cooking styles, techniques and heritage.

Who Will Feature In Chef’s Table: Noodles?

Dropped this week, the latest four-part series of Chef’s Table explores the ‘cultural significance and culinary artistry’ of one of the world’s most beloved and versatile dishes: noodles. It’s centred around four chefs from different parts of the world, all renowned for their noodle craft in different ways.

Evan Funke

First up is Evan Funke, a two-time James Beard-nominated chef based in Los Angeles. Funke spent years working with Wolfgang Puck at Spago before heading to Bologna to learn the craft of pasta making. Nowadays he owns a string of restaurants back in LA including Felix in Venice Beach, Mother Wolf in Hollywood and the eponymous Funke in Beverly Hills. 

Guirong Wei

Guirong Wei is the chef and founder of Master Wei, an independent London restaurant dedicated to showcasing the cuisine of Xi’an, northern China. This episode will detail Wei’s skill in creating Biang Biang noodles: thick, broad, hand-pulled noodles which are tricky to master.

Peppe Guida

Next up: over to Italy, where Peppe Guida runs two acclaimed restaurants: the Michelin-starred Antica Osteria Nonna Rosa, and Villa Rosa. The son of an artist, Guida is a self-taught chef whose recipes are inspired by his upbringing in the coastal town of Vico Equense – all centred around his motto: ‘hands in the earth and eyes towards the sea’.

Nite Yun

The series also spotlights rising star Nite Yun, who introduces us to the flavourful noodle dishes of Cambodia. Born in a refugee camp in Thailand, Yun and her family moved to California – but Yun has since returned to learn more about her parents’ heritage, and the cuisine there. In 2018 she opened her first restaurant, Nyum Bai, followed by Lunette in San Francisco.

Chef’s Table: Volume 7

On 27 November 2024, Netflix will release Chef’s Table: Volume 7, following the show’s traditional format of spotlighting a new line-up of chefs from different countries.

Chef’s Table: Legends

In 2025, we have Chef’s Table: Legends to look forward to. Marking the 10-year anniversary of Chef’s Table, the docuseries will focus on a number of big foodie names – the ‘culinary legends who have shaped the world of food as we know it’. The line-up for this hasn’t yet been announced.
