Francesco Mazzei is helming an Italian eatery

Nestled in the corner of Westminster, Corinthia London is one of the capital’s finest hotels. Home to an idyllic garden restaurant as well as Tom Kerridge’s first London dining room, the hotel has always been known for food offering – but next year, it’s having a bit of a shake-up. The long-standing Northall eatery will be transformed into a signature restaurant from esteemed Italian chef Francesco Mazzei, set to debut in summer 2025.

Francesco Mazzei To Open New Restaurant

Calabrian-born Mazzei brings with him a wealth of experience, having worked at top hotels and Michelin-starred restaurants all over the world. He spent time in places like The Dorchester in London, La Terrazza dell’Eden Rome, and The Royal Sporting Club in Bangkok, before opening his own restaurant, L’Anima in London, followed by three sites with D&D hospitality group: Sartoria, Radici and Fiume. Most recently, Mazzei had a residency at Villa Corinthia, the founding property of the Corinthia Hotels group.

We haven’t got many details about the new restaurant just yet, but it will showcase Mazzei’s signature Italian style, which he describes as ‘mamma’s cooking with a chef’s hands’, with a focus on championing the specialities of his hometown. With its high ceilings and large windows, no doubt the space will have a grand look too, in-keeping with the hotel’s sophisticated aesthetic.

Speaking about the new launch, Mazzei said: ‘Since my last ventures in London, I had been searching for the right opportunity, so when the prospect to open here at Corinthia London presented itself, I was delighted. It is the perfect location for me to showcase the most beautiful, classic Italian cooking that I am so excited to share. I am also thrilled to be in great company, working alongside the hotel’s other partners, Tom Kerridge and Salvatore Calabrese.’

Thomas Kochs, Managing Director of Corinthia London, added: ‘I am so happy to be able to create a restaurant with Francesco and the team here at the hotel, which will be for Londoners and hotel guests alike. Francesco’s personality and his spectacular Italian food will be irresistible for sure.’

The Northall will remain open until late winter 2024, when it will close for a refurbishment. Mazzei’s restaurant will launch in summer 2025. It will join the hotel’s Crystal Moon Lounge, which serves afternoon tea, and Salvatore Calabrese’s Velvet Bar, alongside the aforementioned Kerridge’s Bar & Grill. corinthia.com
