M&S’s Custard Cream Easter Egg Has Gone Viral

In 2024, Waitrose created the year’s trendiest Easter treat: a speckled pistachio egg encased inside a chocolate one. But this year M&S has stolen the crown with its giant custard cream egg, which is all the rage on TikTok right now.

With its silky cream filling and signature design, the humble custard cream has been beloved for over 100 years. But the M&S version really takes the biscuit. The retailer dropped its Outrageously Chocolatey Milk Chocolate Coated Custard Creams in 2023, described as ‘more chocolate than biscuit’ and featuring a decadent vanilla filling. They were an instant hit – becoming the brand’s top-selling line in just two weeks.

Now, M&S has built on the success of its custard creams by creating an Easter egg version. The Outrageously Chocolatey Custard Cream Biscuity Egg is a supersized, biscuit-shaped hollow chocolate egg studded with biscuit pieces, with a layer of custard cream inside. It’s receiving rave reviews on TikTok, with many videos deeming the £12 price tag justified.

If you love M&S’s signature chocolate rounds, there’s an Easter egg version of those too, made with thick milk chocolate and loaded with biscuit pieces.

Other favourites this year include the Dippy Whippy Loaded Egg, a chunky, milk chocolate egg loaded with mallow and orange whips, orange speckled eggs and orange jelly pieces. The Scrummy Bunny Munch is also proving popular, another chewy, loaded egg filled with coated toffee popcorn, milk chocolate mini eggs and chocolate coated pretzels.

Fans of the Waitrose pistachio number, meanwhile, will love the Collection Extra Thick Pistachio & Milk Chocolate Egg, which features an indulgent layer of smooth pistachio truffle alongside roasted pistachios. The 5 Pistachio Rolled Eggs are also proving a hit this year: five small eggs containing a smooth pistachio crème, rolled in chopped pistachios.
