Emily In Paris fans: it’s the day we’ve all been waiting for. Netflix has dropped part one of the fourth season of the show, meaning we can spend the rest of August watching Emily (Lily Collins) and the gang gallivanting around the City of Love, wishing we were there with them. The series is a love letter to the French capital, filmed across some of its best-loved attractions – many of which you can visit for yourself. But what about Gabriel’s restaurant? Does it really exist?

Is Gabriel’s Restaurant In Emily In Paris Real?

Throughout Emily in Paris, much of the action takes place around the French restaurant of chef Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) – one of Emily’s love interests. The eatery changes its name every season: initially it’s called Les Deux Comperes, changing to Chez Lavaux and most recently becoming L’Espirit de Gigi – a tribute to Gabriel’s grandmother.

In real-life, though, the restaurant is an Italian eatery called Terra Nera. Located in the 5th arrondissement of Paris, it has become a hotspot for fans of the show, who visit to get a snap outside the famed red frontage.

The small, neighbourhood restaurant serves a traditional menu of pasta, antipasti, meat and fish – highlights include fried calamari, gorgonzola tortellini, carbonara and more. There’s also a dessert menu offering tiramisu, profiteroles and sorbet.

Just like the restaurant in the show, on warmer days diners can opt to sit on the street-front terrace – although inside, there are a few differences. There’s no open kitchen allowing a view of the chefs, for instance: instead there is a selection of wines lining the wall.

Soon after Emily in Paris first came out, Terra Nera introduced a special menu in homage to the series. This kicked off with an Americano aperitif, ahead of a burrata starter and main of beef tagliata – a nod to an early episode, when Emily criticised the preparation of her meat, only to discover her neighbour Gabriel was the chef. Although the menu is no longer on offer, you can certainly pop in for dinner and a glass of wine a la Emily and Mindy (Ashley Jini Park).
