Inside the chef's biggest venture to date
London is no stranger to skyscraper restaurants, but Gordon Ramsay has set a new record with the launch of a new rooftop branch of Lucky Cat. The hotly anticipated opening is part of his biggest venture to date: four new venues located within one of London’s tallest buildings, 22 Bishopsgate.
First Look At Gordon Ramsay Restaurants At 22 Bishopsgate
Perched on the 60th floor of the building, Lucky Cat has become the tallest restaurant in London, stealing the crown from Duck & Waffle in the Salesforce tower. It features a luxurious Asian-inspired menu, with a mixture of small plates, robata grills, sushi and sashimi, plus a dedicated wagyu beef offering. An Express Lunch Menu, meanwhile, offers two courses for £29 or three for £24, including dishes vegetable tempura and teriyaki salmon rice bowls.
The restaurant also features an open sushi bar, and a private dining room which can fit up to 18 guests, offering a ‘Feast’ menu for £185pp. Lucky Cat Bar, meanwhile, offers an impressive array of Japanese whisky, plus a selection of martinis and the famous Lucky Cat negroni, which involves rolling a dice to get your unique gin, bitter and vermouth combination.
Naturally, there are unparalleled vistas of the capital’s skyline, with The Shard, Tower Bridge, St Paul’s Cathedral and Battersea Power Station all in view from floor-to-ceiling windows. You’ll get a good look, too, from the lifts – some of the fastest in Europe, ascending eight metres per second.
Down on the 60th floor you’ll find a 12-seat chef’s table from Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, spearheaded by executive head chef James Goodyear and focusing on Nordic and Japanese flavours. One floor below there’s a new outpost of Bread Street Bar & Kitchen, serving roasts, grills, salads and afternoon tea. Elsewhere, there’s a new cookery school, The Gordon Ramsay Academy, which offers classes on everything from mastering beef wellington to making pasta from scratch.
‘I’ve been lucky enough to open restaurants all over the world, but there’s something truly unique about London,’ said Ramsay. ‘It’s where my journey began, and it’s the city I’m proud to call home. I couldn’t be more excited to open three of our most iconic restaurants, all reimagined, taken to new heights, and built under one roof.
‘All that and a place where anyone can come and level up their skills in the kitchen, it’s unbelievable. To offer exceptional food and drinks with some of the most stunning views of London’s skyline is truly amazing. It’s about creating something extraordinary for those who share our passion for great food and this incredible city.’
