Where To Eat In Ibiza, According To A Local Chef

These are the island's must-visit foodie spots
Nowadays, Ibiza is known just as much for its food scene as it is for its nightlife. The White Isle is overflowing with great eateries, and it’s not all about flashy fine dining: there are family-run fish restaurants, rustic farm-to-table spots and laid-back cafes overlooking the water. But which ones should be on your bucket list? With Ibiza’s summer season about to kick off, we enlisted chef Hari Shetty to share his top recommendations.
Having spent a lot of his childhood on the island, Mumbai-born chef Hari returned to Ibiza in 2017 to open a contemporary Japanese restaurant, Izakaya at the Sir Joan Hotel. It was a hit, but after three successful years the venue fell victim to the pandemic. This summer, though, Hari will be returning, opening a pop-up of his Amsterdam restaurant Nela alongside fellow chef Ori Geller. Launching within the 7Pines Resort from 17 May, the residency will bring Nela’s live fire concept to Ibiza, with a focus on the island’s seasonal specialties.
Best Restaurants In Ibiza: Hari Shetty’s Pick
Casa Maca
Casa Maca has got this low key magic to it – tucked up in the hills, not far from Ibiza Town, but it feels like a total escape. I love going at golden hour, when the sky turns that soft pink behind Dalt Vila, and the atmosphere is calm, almost still. It’s the kind of place where dinner casually rolls into drinks under fairy lights, and the farm-to-table menu always nails the balance between earthy and elevated.

Fish Shack
This place feels like the worst-kept local secret – totally unpretentious, no signs, no bookings. You sit on plastic chairs, drink cold rosé, and eat the freshest grilled fish while your feet are almost in the sea. It’s one of those “this is the life” moments that defines Ibiza for me. Go early or be ready to wait, but it’s 100 percent worth it.

Cala Jondal
‘Cala Jondal is my go-to when I want to do “Ibiza” properly – laid-back luxury, stylish crowd, and that unmistakable buzz in the air. It’s more than just a beach; it’s the full experience. I’ll go early for a swim, grab a spot with friends at one of the lounges, and by mid-afternoon, things naturally ramp up with cocktails and music rolling in. Blue Marlin is the big name here, but honestly, even just watching the boats roll in is a treat.

Es Boldadó
Perched on a cliff with views of Es Vedrà, Es Boldadó is easily one of the most breathtaking lunch spots in Ibiza. It’s known for its seafood, and rightly so – the grilled squid and salt-baked fish are unforgettable. It’s one of those places where the view, the food, and the quiet hum of conversation all blend into one perfect afternoon.

Ses Roques
Ses Roques is another great coastal spot, tucked away at Cala Conta. I go for the grilled fish and to soak in those endless sea views. It feels special but not overdone, just really good food in a jaw-dropping setting. Sunset here is something else.

El Bigotes
El Bigotes is a proper Ibicenco institution. It’s as rustic as it gets – tables perched on rocks, no electricity, and one dish: bullit de peix, a traditional fisherman’s stew. You have to book way in advance, and if you’re lucky enough to go, it feels like stepping back in time. I don’t even look at my phone when I’m there, it’s all about food, sea, and stories.

Ottolenghi at Atzaró
Atzaró Agroturismo
Atzaró feels like stepping into another world. Whether you’re there for lunch, a spa day, or staying over, it’s just a beautifully curated escape. The orange groves, the design, that hit of lavender in the air, it all just slows you down. I go when I want a reset or to impress friends who’ve never been to Ibiza before.

Pou des Lleó
For a more local, rustic beach day, Pou des Lleó is perfect. It’s quiet, laid-back, and there’s a restaurant right on the cove that serves some of the best paella I’ve had on the island. There’s something really special about watching the fishermen work while you dig into a plate of seafood, all without the crowds.

Ibiza Food Studio
If you’re into inventive, intimate dining, Ibiza Food Studio is an absolute must. It’s not your typical island restaurant, it feels more like a creative lab hidden in the hills. The menu changes all the time, but it’s always pushing boundaries while still feeling very connected to local produce and stories.

Cala Bonita
Cala Bonita is one of those beaches that just gets under your skin. It’s not massive or flashy, but it has this chic simplicity. The beach restaurant has an excellent Mediterranean menu, and it’s the kind of place where lunch can easily stretch into the early evening. It’s laid-back, stylish, and the water is that perfect, glassy turquoise.’
