Recreate this royal favourite at home
Watermelon is trending on TikTok right now – but Kate Middleton was ahead of the game. The Princess of Wales has apparently long been enjoying watermelon salads for her summer lunches, according to sources from Kensington Palace.
A spokesperson from health company Barbend told The Express: ‘Kate favours organic foods for lunch and incorporates as many raw ingredients as possible’, adding: ‘watermelon salads are a staple of Kate’s lunches, and include juicy pink watermelon mixed with avocado, onion, cucumber, and feta cheese – the perfect mix of sweet and savoury.’
Kate herself hasn’t confirmed this is her lunch dish of choice, but whether it has had the royal seal of approval or not, a watermelon and feta salad is perfect for the summer. Not only does watermelon taste delicious alongside the tangy, salty feta, the fruit is one of the most hydrating foods out there.

Instagram chef Alex Hyslop has whizzed up a recipe for the viral salad, writing: ‘A huge caveat here that I have absolutely no idea if this is actually the watermelon salad Kate makes or if she eats it at all, but according to the very trustworthy UK media this is her daily lunch so I thought I’d give it a go! It’s so fresh, so delicious and perfect for this heatwave.’
