The retailer is the latest to jump aboard the trend
It was only a matter of time. M&S has followed in the footsteps of Lindt and created its own version of the viral Dubai chocolate, The Big Daddy Pistachio Bar. But when can we get our hands on it?
M&S’s Pistachio Chocolate Bar Is Dropping This April
M&S’s take on the pistachio chocolate is a twist on its popular Big Daddy bar, a chunky chocolate bar with a peanut butter centre. The new version is filled with a pistachio cream, with layers of milk and white chocolate and salted caramel, plus a crunchy biscuit crumb, encased in a thick chocolate coating. It has been nine months in the making, and no doubt will be a sellout.
‘We’ve seen the pistachio trend explode in the past few months, both on restaurant menus and on social media, so it’s a real focus for us as one of our top flavour trends this year,’ said M&S’s director of product development Kathryn Turner.
‘For example, our new Collection Pistachio & Milk Chocolate Egg was flying off the shelves well over a month before Easter, while shoppers were snapping up 5,000 jars a day of our top-quality Collection Pistachio Crème when it launched – that’s seven jars every minute. In fact the pistachio creme has been so popular that we’re now bringing it back all year round!’
The Dubai chocolate hype began last autumn, when TikTokers discovered a crunchy chocolate bar filled with pistachio and kataifi pastry from the Dubai-based Fix Chocolate. As it was only available in the UAE, people were travelling hundreds of miles to try it – but before long, brands cottoned on and began making copycat versions.
Lindt launched its Dubai Style Chocolate Bar in December 2024, which sold out in just five days – although recently it was restocked (complete with a two-bar limit). Lidl has also made a version, and now M&S is joining in the fun.
When Is The M&S Big Daddy Pistachio Bar Out?
The chocolate bar will arrive in stores and online on Wednesday 23 April 2025. It will cost £8.50 for a 280g bar, so it’s not cheap, but it is less than the original Dubai bar, which cost a whopping £20. marksandspencer.com
