Spring has sprung in the capital, bringing with it a whole host of exciting new foodie openings. So where should we be booking for catch ups and celebrations next month? Here are the new restaurants opening in London this April, from a buzzy Taiwanese noodle restaurant to a tapas bar centred around brioche.

New London Restaurants: April 2025

A plate of seafood

Tom Brown at The Capital, Knightsbridge

Following the success of his East London eatery Cornerstone, Cornish-born chef Tom Brown is returning to the place where he first made a name for himself, Belgravia’s The Capital Hotel. Opening this April, Brown’s intimate new restaurant will showcase his signature style of creative seafood fare, with a focus on utilising lesser-known cuts and using every part of the fish to avoid waste. Lavish 12-course tasting menus will include dishes like wild bass with buttermilk and vanilla, cuttlefish ravioli, and monkfish with roast chicken and wild garlic.

Kung Fu Mama

Kung Fu Mama, Covent Garden

Ottolenghi co-founder Noam Bar-Chang is joining forces with Kung Fu Mama founder Chris Hsu to launch a new Taiwanese noodle bar in Covent Garden. Building on Hsu’s concept, Kung Fu Mama will serve authentic dishes designed with nourishment in mind: ingredients will be oven-baked rather than deep-fried, and sugar levels will be kept to a minimum. Noodle dishes will include a chicken thigh number made with ginger and sesame sauce, and mapo tofu with spicy minced pork. Alongside this, there will be bao sandwiches, veggie side dishes and one dessert: mango shaved ice with passionfruit and lime.

081 Pizzeria, Shoreditch

Founded in a Peckham car park by Naples-born Andrea Ascuiti, 081 Pizzeria quickly garnered a cult following, and went on to claim a spot in the prestigious 50 Top Pizzas in Europe list. Ascuiti went on to open a larger flagship site, and now he’s introducing a second branch: 081 Pizzeria Shoreditch. Located on Great Eastern Street, the restaurant will serve its signature Neapolitan pizzas, made using 72-hour fermented dough and ingredients sourced from Italy. Favourites include the Tunarella, which is topped with yellow cherry tomatoes, fior di latte mozzarella and black olives, alongside the Pulled Genovese, a combination of slow-cooked pulled beef brisket and ragu. Don’t miss the beloved pistachio doughnut dessert, either.

Brioche bun

La Spot, Fitzrovia

With its buttery, almost croissant-like flavour, brioche is one of the most versatile types of bread out there – hence why it’s been chosen as the hero ingredient at new Fitzrovia bakery La Spot. Opening this April on Charlotte Street, the eatery and wine bar will see brioche incorporated into an array of dishes, from a toasted bun with rich oxtail to lobster rolls and the signature octopus hot dog. There will also be tapas bites, like tempura, sea bass carpaccio and patatas bravas, as well as a range of wine and cocktails. Popping in for lunch? Make the most of the takeaway deal, which includes a brioche sandwich, fries and a fresh salad for £9.90.

Bubala, King’s Cross

Since opening in Spitalfields in 2019, Bubala has grown to become one of London’s most popular Middle Eastern restaurants. A second branch followed in Soho, and this April a third will arrive in King’s Cross, spread across two floors with a large outdoor terrace. Guests can enjoy Bubala favourites like the oyster mushroom skewers and confit latkes, as well as new menu additions, like mujadara, a fragrant combination of lentils, rice, tahini and spices. Sure to be a highlight is the new sharing dessert, Bubala’s Big Pud, which features chocolate mousse, brûléed bananas, coconut caramel and sesame snaps. All this can be paired with natural wines and Gazoz house sodas, a homemade sparkling drink which combines ferments with locally sourced fruits.
