London Restaurant Openings: February 2025

Oorja

Gobind Chona made a name for himself with Gura Gura, an Asian-inspired restaurant in Covent Garden. And now he’s back with another opening: Oorja, a casual Indian restaurant on Shaftesbury Avenue. The focus will be on small places inspired by traditional Northern Indian recipes, with highlights including BBQ butterfly chicken, lamb curry, chickpeas masala, and corn roti. On Sundays, Oorja will serve an Indian twist on the classic Sunday roast, featuring tandoori-spiced roast beef with crispy Yorkshire puddings and garam masala beef gravy.

Elsewhere on this floor, you’ll find an intimate chef’s table experience from Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, plus an outpost of Bread Street Bar & Kitchen below, serving roasts, grills and salads alongside a brand-new afternoon tea offering. Alba London

For a taste of la dolce vita on London shores, book a table at Alba, the new restaurant arriving on Brompton Road this February. Located just a stone’s throw away from Harrods, Alba is inspired by Southern Italy – both in its appearance and its menu. Think shades of lemon yellow and terracotta, real citrus trees and a handmade Venetian floor, plus tableware from Florentine porcelain house Ginori. Food-wise, diners can enjoy an impressive array of seafood, including lobster and langoustines, alongside Amalfi-inspired mains like Sicilian carpaccio and truffle tagliatelle. Pair with wines from France and Italy, alongside modern riffs on classic cocktails.

Pizza at Dough Hands

Dough Hands at The Old Nun’s Head

Some good news for Peckham locals: pizza hotspot Dough Hands is making its way down south. Following a successful residency at The Spurstowe Arms in London Fields, founder Hannah Drye is taking on a second, this one at the Old Nun’s Head in (you guessed it) Nunhead. Hannah’s secret? Creating an ultra-crispy crust you’ll actually want to eat. Pizzas are made with regenerative flour from Shipton Mill and Wildfarmed, with favourites including the Jode, made with ‘nduja and hot honey, and the OG with pepperoni and fruity jalapeños.

La Môme

La Môme at The Berkeley

A trip to five-star hotel The Berkeley is about to get even more appealing, thanks to the launch of La Môme, an offshoot of the French Riviera favourite. Spearheaded by French restaurateurs Ugo and Antoine Lecorché, the restaurant will bring the same glitz as its siblings (there are already branches in Cannes and Monte Carlo), with a Mediterranean menu inspired by Provence and Italy. ‘As in Cannes, La Môme London will exude the same upbeat, elegant vibe,’ says Lecorché. ‘We are trying to bring to The Berkeley an experience that is about all the senses: not only about the food, but about the welcome, the service, the music, the energy, where something interesting is happening every day.’

With chef Patrick Powell (formerly at the Midland Grand) taking over the kitchen, it’s set to have a big focus on food, with a rotisserie grill on the ground floor serving signatures like chicken marinated in chermoula, plus a Sunday roast. Drinks-wise, there will be beers from Allsopp’s Brewery, alongside Guinness, pre-batched Negronis and spirits.
