But if you fancy something a little more civilised this year (and a guaranteed seat), why not treat yourself to a special dinner out? The capital’s restaurants pull out all the stops for the biggest night of the year, so you can ring in 2025 in the best way: eating top-class food and sipping wine. Granted, venues often ramp up their prices – but these are the hotspots worth splashing out on. Chef John Javier will be bringing his signature Asian style of cooking to Notting Hill hotspot Caia this NYE. He’ll be whizzing up a five-course, fire-led menu featuring dishes like cumin lamb skewers and scallop nigiri – and if you book the early slot, it costs under £100. Expect music too: co-founder Tim Lang will be kicking things off in The Green Room with a vinyl DJ set, followed by a set from DJ Federico, who will bring guests into 2025 with funk, Afro beats and dark disco, with the venue open until 2am.

Often billed as one of London’s most romantic eateries, Belgravia’s French institution La Poule au Pot is well-suited to special occasion date nights. This year’s New Year’s Eve menu kicks off with hors d’oeuvres of snails, onion soup and scallops, ahead of hearty fish and meat dishes, including the signature (and titular) dish, La Poule au Pot (chicken in a pot), and dover sole fried in butter. The cheerful family-run restaurant is offering a New Year’s Eve set menu, starting with a glass of fizz ahead of sharing starters, like arancini, burrata and caponata. Next up there’s a selection of pastas, including the famous cacio e pepe, followed by mains including pulled pork rolls with roast potatoes, and a traditional Tuscan fish stew, with Nutella cheesecake and panettone pudding for dessert. Housed in a Grade II Georgian mansion in Vauxhall, chef Jackson Boxer’s Brunswick House is like nowhere else in London.
