The Thames Foyer is being revamped

For many years, The Thames Foyer has served as the hub of The Savoy – renowned for serving the hotel’s world-famous afternoon tea. However, this autumn it’s undergoing a big revamp, reopening as The Savoy Lounge in November.

The Savoy Lounge To Replace The Thames Foyer

The new all-day concept is being described as ‘a vibrant space at the heart of the hotel for drinking and dining, where guests can enjoy a perfect blend of our theatrical flair and relaxed charm’. Diners can expect a fresh look courtesy of London-based design studio BradyWilliams, who have kept the venue’s famous glass atrium but added some jazzy new features. Think black and white marble, gold-embossed mirrors, and leather upholstery in a ‘soft pink, warm ochre and heritage tan’ colour scheme – plus a new central walkway and modernised lighting.

Afternoon tea will still be on offer, but the restaurant will also serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus a cocktail hour. Menus will use locally sourced produce to showcase traditional recipes with a twist.

Beaufort Bar at The Savoy

This is one of a number of new launches coming soon to The Savoy. The hotel is also set to welcome Scoff, a shop dedicated to scones, with both sit-in and takeaway options available, plus a florist selling seasonal blooms. Elsewhere in the property, a number of rooms and suites are being refurbished, with the first of these set to debut in August 2025.

The Savoy is one of London’s most esteemed hotels, with a rich history dating back to 1889. Its new openings will join a number of food and drink spots at the hotel, including the American Bar, Beaufort Bar, Restaurant 1890 by Gordon Ramsay and Savoy Grill by Gordon Ramsay. One of its longest-standing eateries, Simpson’s in the Strand, is currently closed, but it’s set to reopen at some point this year with a new offering helmed by restaurateur Jeremy King.

Bookings for The Savoy Lounge will open on 2 September 2024, thesavoylondon.com
