Is this London's most stylish new spot for rooftop cocktails?
With its sweeping views over Hyde Park, outdoor pool and pretty striped loungers, The Berkeley’s rooftop is one of the city’s most chic. Until now, the space has been reserved for hotel guests only – but this summer, us mere mortals can get a taste of the high life too.
The Berkeley Is Lauching A New Rooftop Bar – And It’s Open To All
Come evening time, guests are invited to enjoy drinks at the hotel’s brand new rooftop bar, which will serve refreshing tipples and Mediterranean small plates by the pool. Think rosé by the magnum, sangria, and summer cocktails such as the Pool Party, a mix of Campari, Chambord, rhubarb and strawberry bitters; and the Hyde Park Spritz, made with Ricard Pastis, Cointreau and sparkling water.
This can be paired with plates of seared beef with truffle artichoke pesto and rocket, marinated squid with courgette spaghetti, and a watermelon and feta salad topped with mint dressing. Book a table or settle in on a lounger, and pretend you’re in the south of France. Sadly the pool is still out of bounds unless you’re staying at the hotel – but you can still admire the view, plus the vistas of Knightsbridge and Belgravia in the distance.
Upon arrival by lift, be sure to check out the new mural from artist Chiara Perano, which is inspired by the blues and greens of the park.
Part of the Maybourne Hotel Group – which also owns Claridge’s and The Connaught – The Berkeley is one of London’s most glamorous hotels. Alongside the standout rooftop, it’s home to a Michelin-starred restaurant from Marcus Wareing and a Bamford wellness spa.
The rooftop bar is open from 1 August, Tuesday – Saturday from 7.30pm to 11pm. Tables must be booked in advance, while loungers will be available for walk-ins only.
