A Twits-themed foodie experience is on its way

Wondering how you’ll keep the kids entertained all through the summer? Here’s an activity children of all ages will love. This August, London Marriott Hotel County Hall in Westminster is introducing a special afternoon tea inspired by Roald Dahl’s classic, The Twits.

The Twits Afternoon Tea

The menu includes a selection of sweet and savoury treats inspired by the children’s novel. Think a new take on Wormy Spaghetti, conjured up using cucumber, cream cheese and wholemeal bread; Mrs Twit’s Bird Pie, made with a mix of ham, chicken and leek; and Fish Finger, featuring smoked haddock, ketchup and brioche.

On the sweet side, guests can enjoy fun themed treats like a Jam Roly-Poly Bird, vanilla sponge with white chocolate and berry cream; Muggle-Wumps, a monkey nut and banana brownie; and Fizzy Drinks, made with lemon and orange macarons and popping candy. No afternoon tea would be complete without some scones – but here, there’s a twist. Some will be buttermilk, others will be marmite, but you won’t know which until you bite into them.

Other playful Twits paraphernalia will be dotted throughout, including upside down menus adorned with Quentin Blake illustrations.

Fear not, though, grown ups: it’s not all about the kids. You can enjoy a glass of champagne while little ones sip their Skillywiggler Lemonade with Frogspawn (lemonade with apple pearls), or Roly-Poly Berry Juice (berry milkshake with white chocolate feather).

The Twits is one of Roald Dahl’s most beloved books, first published back in 1980. It tells the story of Mr. and Mrs Twit, a spiteful, unkempt married couple who despise one another, and spend their time playing tricks on one another and the world around them.

BOOK IT:

The Twits Afternoon Tea will be served daily between 12– 5pm from 15 August 2024, priced at £65 per adult and £45 per child (up to 12 years). To book, visit thetwitsafternoontea.com.
