With its unmistakable scent and taste, truffle is one of the most luxurious ingredients out there. Whether it’s shaved atop a bowl of pasta, infused in a soup or added to scrambled eggs, the mushroom elevates any dish with its rich flavour. Although varieties of the fungi are available year-round, truffle season is generally associated with the autumn and winter months: white truffles are available from September until December, followed by winter black truffles from December to early March. That means as soon as summer comes to a close, restaurants begin adding special truffle dishes to their menus. If you’re a fan, read on to find out where to eat truffles in London for 2024.
Truffle Menus In London
TOZI Restaurant & Bar
Truffle menus are an annual tradition at TOZI Restaurant & Bar, a neighbourhood Italian restaurant in Victoria. This year, head chef Maurilio Molteni has crafted a menu centred around white truffles from Northern Italy. All dishes are created to complement the truffle’s rich, earthy flavour, served with fresh shavings tableside. Begin with parmesan croquettes followed by duck egg and wild mushroom bruschetta, ahead of a chargrilled beef main. For dessert, TOZI will serve its signature buffalo ricotta ravioli, ahead of a fior di latte ice cream with hazelnut crumble (both jazzed up with truffle, naturally).

Coq d’Argent
Truffles are widely associated with Italian food, but they can be utilised in a range of different cuisines. That includes French, as shown by City restaurant Coq d’Argent, which is launching a truffle tasting menu focused around both black and white varieties from the Alba region. The offering kicks off with seared stone bass with truffle risotto ahead of rose veal rump, with a chocolate and orange souffle dessert served with black truffle ice cream. Wine pairing is also on offer.

Fortnum & Mason
Truffle lovers will find plenty to be excited about at Fortnum & Mason’s London flagship. First up in the store’s Food and Drink studio on 19 October is an afternoon workshop where chefs will be demonstrating how to use the store’s truffle-based products, along with plenty of tasters. Meera Cortesi of Cortesi Truffles will also be hosting a talk surrounding the intricacies of truffle foraging. Then, on 24 October, 45 Jermyn Street will be running a special dinner focused around truffles from Wiltshire Truffles. And later in the season, the eatery will be launching a white truffle menu featuring dishes like truffled cheese toastie, champagne risotto and tagliatelle with parmesan.

Bocca di Lupo
Truffle season is always big at Soho’s Italian restaurant Bocca di Lupo, which is inviting guests to bring their own this year. Stop by sister gelateria Gelupo to pick up your own white Alba truffles from Piedmont (or bring your own from home), then head across the road for dinner at the restaurant. The team will clean your truffles and shave them atop any dish on the menu – with certain items marked out with a T to show they’ll pair particularly well with the rich flavour. Highlights include veal battuto (hand-chopped tartare) and tajarin (the Piedmontese name for taglioni), tossed with raw duck egg and Parmesan.

Sale e Pepe
The recently revamped Sale e Pepe in Knightsbridge is celebrating white truffle season with a new menu. This includes an array of traditional antipasti topped with generous helpings of the Piedmontese special, such as burrata caprese, beef carpaccio and porcini mushroom soup. Larger plates, meanwhile, include freshly made tagliatelle, porcini mushroom risotto, and a classic beef tartare, followed by a standout dessert of panna cotta with truffle honey.

Murano
Angela Hartnett’s Murano is one of the most esteemed Italian restaurants in London, so you can guarantee its upcoming white truffle dinner will be extra special. Running in collaboration with the eatery’s truffle supplier, the aforementioned Meera Cortesi, the evening will include a four-course menu alongside canapés. Begin with Angela’s signature white truffle risotto, followed by guinea fowl, tarte tatin, and vacherin – all laced with the luxurious ingredient in question. Each course will be paired with rare wines from Piemonte, carefully selected by Murano’s head sommelier Ali Finch.

Gloria
Befitting of the larger than life Italian restaurant, Gloria’s truffle offering is wonderfully decadent. The Mafaldine Al Tartufo dish is one of its signature offerings, featuring fresh malfadine pasta cooked with mascarpone and flecked with black Molise truffle shavings and button mushrooms. Craving pizza? There’s a black truffle-infused one of those too, made with fior di latte, sautéed mushrooms and ricotta, plus some croquettes filled with provola and topped with truffle honey.
