Highlights from this year's culinary calendar


Didn’t bag tickets for Glastonbury? Why not treat your tastebuds to a trip to one of the UK’s food festivals instead. Throughout the year, the country’s regional culinary scenes are celebrated with an eclectic programme of events, offering the chance to meet local producers, watch top chefs in action and of course tuck into plenty of delicious food and drinks. From a family friendly weekend at Alex James’ Cotswolds farm to a seafood extravaganza in Devon, here are the food festivals to have on your radar in 2025.

Porthleven Food Festival, Cornwall

Perched beside the Cornish sea, the charming fishing town of Porthleven is a haven for foodies – particularly if you’re a fan of seafood. Its culinary offering is celebrated each spring in a vibrant festival, complete with chef demonstrations, live music, workshops and more. Head to the Chef’s Theatre for the annual comedy roast, join sommelier Elly Owen for wine tastings and enjoy champagne and oysters at the Fishermen’s Quay – plus sign up to one of the much-loved Feast Nights: convivial meals cooked with local produce.

Always a highlight on the foodie calendar is Tom Kerridge’s roaming food festival Pub in the Park, which runs across four locations throughout the summer: Marlow, London, Reigate and St Albans. A celebration of the great British pub, the festival combines food, drink and music, attracting a star-studded roster of chefs and musicians alike. The 2025 music line-up includes names like Pixie Lott, Dizzee Rascal and Jess Glynne, with the culinary acts yet to be announced. To give you an idea, last year saw appearances from the likes of Mary Berry, Michel Roux Jnr and Angela Hartnett.

Malton Food Lovers Festival, North Yorkshire

In the north of England, one of the most popular food festivals takes place in the market town of Malton, renowned for its culinary scene. Designed to spotlight Yorkshire’s finest produce and cooking, the Malton Food Lovers Festival takes the form of a giant street party, complete with artisan stalls, street food, talks, tastings and live music. The best bit? It’s free to attend. The 2024 chef programme included former Bake Off winner David Atherton, and Ollie Farrar, the name behind the recently opened Forty-Six restaurant, with this year’s line-up soon to be announced.

Smoke and Fire, Ascot and Maldon

If barbecues are your favourite thing about the summer, we’ve got just the festival for you. Smoke and Fire is a foodie event dedicated to the beloved BBQ, with two editions set to take place this summer: the first at Ascot Racecourse, the other in Maldon. Both will offer an array of sizzling street food traders and live fire demonstrations, with the Ascot event including a taco and tequila event from Tacover, and the Maldon festival featuring a programme of live music – think afrobeats, house and R&B.

Big Feastival Chefs

The Big Feastival, the Cotswolds

The ultimate feel-good festival, this family-friendly event on the late August Bank Holiday weekend is set on Alex James’ idyllic farm in the Cotswolds. A celebration of great music and great food, previous years have seen performances from the likes of Lewis Capaldi, Stereophonics, Becky Hill and Snow Patrol, alongside a string of top chefs – from Raymond Blanc to Jack Stein. Every year, there’s an abundance of delicious street food to sample, from pizza to steak and ice cream, alongside demonstrations, talks and circus performances, plus a dreamy woodland spa where you can relax in wood-fired hot tubs and saunas.

Abergavenny Food Festival

Abergavenny Food Festival, Wales

Each September, the Welsh town of Abergavenny comes alive with chefs, farmers and foodies, who unite for the annual food festival. Set across two days in multiple venues, the event sees over 150 exhibitors showcasing local produce from Monmouthshire, the Marches, Wales and further afield. Festival goers can watch chefs live in action on the stage in the Victorian Market Hall, and listen to debates from culinary figures: in previous years the festival has attracted names like Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, Jamie Oliver and Monica Galetti. Aldeburgh Food and Drink Festival Stands

Aldeburgh Food & Drink Festival, Suffolk

Home to over 50 miles of coastline and some of the country’s finest gastropubs, Suffolk has a thriving food and drink scene. At the heart lies the region’s artisan producers, who join together each year for the Aldeburgh Food & Drink Festival. Founded in 2006, the weekend always attracts a star-studded line-up: last year names like Ben Tish and Tom Booton made an appearance, alongside food writers including Clare Finney and William Sitwell. There’s always an exciting range of masterclasses on offer too, where you can dip your toe into the art of seafood cooking, food preservation and more.

England’s Seafood Feast, Devon

Devon is a haven for seafood lovers, home to numerous charming seaside restaurants serving up some of the country’s freshest fish. The best chance to try it? At England’s Seafood Fest, a two-week festival in the English Riviera featuring everything from crab-cracking masterclasses to coastal foraging workshops and fishing trips. It’s back this autumn, spread across over 30 eateries in Torquay, Brixham and Paignton and offering a diverse range of seafood – from fish and chips on the beach to sushi and fine dining.

Tray of oysters

Falmouth Oyster Festival, Cornwall

One of Cornwall’s best-loved culinary events is the Falmouth Oyster Festival, a weekend dedicated to the mighty mollusc. Designed to celebrate the start of oyster dredging season, which runs from October to March, the festival highlights traditional harvesting methods using only sail and oar, with a focus on the native Fal oyster. Shuck oysters while sipping champagne, meet local Cornish producers and catch the annual Working Boat Race – all amid the picturesque settings of Falmouth.
