Here’s Where A-Listers Stay In London Over Christmas

(Spoiler: it isn’t just in hotels)
As Taylor Swift embarked on her Eras Tour this summer, the UK was eager to find out exactly where she was staying when she wasn’t performing – especially when it was revealed that, rather than opting for a glitzy hotel, the singer had simply rented out an entire house (in the Cotswolds, of course). It seems that many big names prefer to rent ultra-luxurious properties during longer trips; so, here’s exactly where celebrities stay in London.
Where Do Celebrities Stay In London?
As London lights up for Christmas, plenty of A-listers will be swooping in to claim suites at glamorous hotels, but others will be taking over entire houses instead. According to the property experts at Hamptons, more and more high-net-worth individuals are choosing short-lets over hotels. After all, while a penthouse suite is certainly luxurious, renting out a whole property affords a higher degree of privacy, as well as offering much more space to entertain – which is, of course, particularly important during the festive season.
When it comes to celebrities, however, the world of short-term rentals reaches far beyond just an empty house. Heather Carter-Drake, Short Lets Associate at Hamptons, is often tasked with connecting clients to private chefs, hospitality staff and even interior designers (to ensure the property is decorated suitably for Christmas).
Meanwhile, plenty of landlords jump at the opportunity to organise short-term rentals – and not just because of the chance to host celebrity guests. According to Hamptons, many landlords are actually looking to sell their properties; since December is usually a slow month for sales, short-term letting helps them generate revenue while awaiting a buyer.
But back to the celebrities – where exactly do they choose to stay during a visit to London? The Hamptons team notes that Notting Hill and Mayfair are, predictably, popular destinations, as well as Knightsbridge, thanks to its festive lights and high-end shopping spots. Check out a few properties available to rent right now…
Needham Road, Notting Hill
This Grade II listed townhouse is currently on the market for a cool £8.5 million, but it’s also available for short-term lets – and it’s the perfect festive stay. Providing nearly 3,500 square feet of space, it’s complete with five bedrooms, a spectacular kitchen/dining room and a huge reception room. You won’t have to scrimp on the guest list if you’re hosting (oh, and everyone will be wowed by the cinema room and gym in the basement.) hamptons.co.uk
Sutton Court Road, Chiswick
This six-bedroom family home is particularly brilliant when it comes to entertaining, with a sleek kitchen/dining room, a wine cellar, and two sprawling reception rooms boasting gorgeous period features. Keep the party going in the chic garden room (which is kitted out with a bar) – or in the hot tub outside. You’ll just need a spare £5,000 per week if you want to rent it out… hamptons.co.uk
