The popular series is back

No British TV series has inspired wanderlust quite like Race Across The World. Dropping a bundle of duos at a shared starting point, the show challenges contestants to race across a continent without set transport, smartphones or bank cards, meeting up at certain checkpoints along the way. Wits, skills and negotiation techniques are put to the test – as are relationships.

A celebrity edition was first announced in 2019 after the huge success of the first series, ultimately launching in 2023 due to pandemic delays. And now we’re back for Celebrity Race Across The World series 2 has officially drawn to a close. Here’s everything to know before you tune in – but first, a quick spoiler alert…

Who Won Celebrity Race Across The World 2024?

BBC Radio 2 DJ Scott Mills and husband Sam reached the final checkpoint in Frutillar, Chile first, making them the official winners of Celebrity Race Across The World series 2. This was only the second time the duo had reached a checkpoint before their competitors, also making it to Tigre in Buenos Aires before their peers in leg four.

Ted Lasso star Kola and his cousin Mary came in second place, while Jeff Brazier and son Freddy came in third, and reality TV star Kelly and husband Jeremy trailed behind in fourth.

  • Kelly Brook and husband Jeremy Parasi

The eight contestants will embark on a 12,500km trip of a lifetime, passing through five check points before racing to the final destination.

‘We’ve been delighted by the success of Celebrity Race Across the World, and are now incredibly excited to see some new famous faces and their loved ones take on this difficult yet highly rewarding race of a lifetime,’ says Catherine Catton, Head of Commissioning Factual Entertainment and Events at the BBC. ‘We cannot wait to watch their journey unfold.’

Where Is Celebrity Race Across The World 2024?

The duos in Celebrity Race Across The World series 2 will trek across South America, beginning at Belém in Northern Brazil and passing through five checkpoints across the length of the continent before ending at Frutillar, a city in Chilean Patagonia.

‘After the phenomenally successful run of the first celebrity series – and more recently the fourth series of the regular series – we can’t wait to bring audiences along with us to the huge South American continent and its jaw-dropping scenery, in a race which will push our celebrities and their loved ones to their absolute limits,’ says Tim Harcourt, Chief Creative Officer at the series’ production company Studio Lambert.
