Yves Delorme is a female-founded family company which began 180 years ago in the north of France

As we gear up for this year’s Journey to Zero on 4 November, which celebrates the brands and the people behind them who are powering their way to a brighter future, we dispatched C&TH interiors editor Carole Annett to France to find out more about one of our sponsors, the storied Yves Delorme.  The brand’s culture of excellence – which goes from the craftsmanship to the materials to the exceptional longevity of its products – makes it a perfect partner for Journey to Zero.

Meet The Sponsors Of Journey To Zero 2025: Yves Delorme

It was a pleasure to head to Nieppe to visit the Yves Delorme workshop. It’s quite a sight – neat rows of seamstresses (including the company’s first male trainee, of whom they are very proud) all wearing white jackets. Where so much of our world is mass-produced, it was wonderful to watch craftsmanship at firsthand – nimble fingers guiding buzzing sewing machines to create perfect lines of intricate embroidery. Elsewhere in the workshop, clouds of organic cotton hanging from an overhead rail system on a journey from cutting table to packaging, tables busy with staff hand-finishing, ironing and finally, folding and packaging at every stage, expert eyes looking for the merest hint of imperfection (hardly visible to my eye) whereby a piece is immediately discarded.

It’s not only the workforce that deserves praise, I was fascinated to learn Yves Delorme has one of the highest standards for sustainability (a 3-star Blue Standard Verification) and they continue to work towards ensuring the business contributes towards the journey to zero.

My favourite moment has to be meeting seamstress Ana Depratere who proudly showed me her Knighthood of Arts & Letters medal, awarded to her by the Ministry of Culture, the highest honour for an artisan in France. Holding it out to show me, she couldn’t wipe the smile off her face.
