A steamy romance descends into bloody revenge
Kristen Stewart is an ‘80s mullet vision in the brand new trailer for A24’s upcoming thriller, Love Lies Bleeding. Here’s everything we know so far, plus when it’ll land in cinemas.
Love Lies Bleeding
Written and directed by British filmmaker Rose Glass, and a co-production between A24 and Film 4, we’re expecting big things from Love Lies Bleeding. An LGBTQ romantic thriller, the film explores the extreme qualities it takes to succeed in the world of bodybuilding. And by extreme we mean extreme: there’s guns, dead bodies, underground crime and more. Taking the lead is Kristen Stewart with an enviable mullet, with Katy O’Brian her mysterious, bodybuilding love interest.
What Is Love Lies Bleeding About?
Lou is a gym manager in an Americana style town, captivated by bodybuilder Jackie who starts training in her gym. Jackie is passing through town, intent on pursuing her bodybuilding dreams. The pair quickly fall in love (or into a steamy infatuation), but they’re disrupted when the pair receive dangerous threats from Lou’s criminal father. As we see in the trailer, an electric relationship descends into blood-soaked chaos in the name of revenge.
The A24 plot summary is as follows: ‘From Director Rose Glass comes an electric new love story; reclusive gym manager Lou falls hard for Jackie, an ambitious bodybuilder headed through town to Vegas in pursuit of her dream. But their love ignites violence, pulling them deep into the web of Lou’s criminal family.’
