When Taylor Sheridan isn’t busy rustling up new Yellowstone spin-offs, he’s crafting complex storylines for another Paramount+ series with long-time collaborator Hugh Dillon. Mayor of Kingstown is led by Jeremy Renner as Mike McLusky, a Michigan town’s unofficial mayor striving to maintain peace between the prisons, corrupt businesses, and his own family. The explosive season 3 finale is now streaming on Paramount+, so one crucial question remains: will there be a Mayor of Kingstown season 4?

Will There Be A Mayor Of Kingstown Season 4?

No news just yet on whether there will be a fourth season of Mayor of Kingstown, but the producers are just as hopeful as we are. In an interview with Variety – in response to the admittedly leading question, ‘A fourth season hasn’t officially been announced, but I can’t imagine it wouldn’t happen, right?’ – series co-creator Hugh Dillon (who also stars as Ian Ferguson in the series), said simply: ‘It’s a bit cliché, but from your mouth to God’s ears.’

Dillon has also hinted at a long future for Mayor of Kingstown elsewhere. Speaking to ComicBook in early 2023, he revealed, ‘we’ve got a big future planned for Mayor,’ explaining that he and Sheridan had been constructing the show for over a decade, egging each other on by asking, ‘Then what happens?’.

What Will Happen?

Mayor of Kingstown season 3 didn’t wrap things up neatly, with a few answers left dangling. If it gets the greenlight, season 4 will pick up where the action left off, expanding especially on the theme of evil and forgiveness that Mike expresses in the finale. ‘I think it’s a thing that we all hold onto, so we don’t just give up,’ Dillon told Variety. ‘So many of us and the characters are predisposed to their darker impulses, and they’re very desensitized. But you’ve got to have hope. That’s what it is. It’s going back to hoping that Iris can make it out. And hoping that Kyle [Taylor Handley] can have a better life than [his brother] Mike has. It’s all those family issues, and how do you absorb loss and defeat and compromise? That is the crux.’
