Everything we know about the much-awaited threequel
Our favourite team of illusionists is making a comeback in what we anticipate to be 2025’s most thrilling heist film. Here is everything we know so far about Now You See Me 3 – plus when it will arrive in UK cinemas.
Now You See Me 3: Plot, Cast, Release Date
Now You See Me 3 was officially announced in 2015, almost a year before Now You See Me 2 arrived in cinemas – and that was nine years ago. Safe to say, then, that this movie has been in the works for quite some time. Why the delay? There’s no clear answer other than good old scheduling issues and rewrites.
Despite the original high interest, little was about the potential sequel after the second film was released, and the prospect of a trilogy seemed totally lost. Flash forward to November 2023, however, and things start moving again. Perhaps the fact that the first two movies grossed $687 million worldwide reentered the conversation – especially with so many projects flopping at the box office in recent years. A third instalment? A no brainer.
After the brilliant work of director Louis Leterrier in the first movie, and Director Jon M. Chu with the sequel, Ruben Fleischer has been announced as the new director for Now You See Me 3, bringing his action-comedy style to the franchise. Bobby Cohen and Alex Kurtzman are producing, while Meredith Wieck and Erin Jones-Wesley are overseeing the project for Lionsgate Films.
What Will Happen In Now You See Me 3?
Rumours have suggested myriad potential plots for Now You See Me 3, from a return to the original cast to a soft reboot with a new protagonist. While details are still being kept under wraps, one thing we do know is that all of the original Four Horsemen will return – even Isla Fisher, who didn’t star in Now You See Me 2 – so we anticipate a journey back to our roots.
Who Stars?
There is a mixture of returning stars and new characters in Now You See Me 3. We will see the return of:
- Jesse Eisenberg as J. Daniel Atlas
- Woody Harrelson as Merritt McKinney
- Isla Fisher as Henley Reeves
- Dave Franco as Jack Wilder
- Mark Ruffalo as Dylan Rhodes/Shrike
- Morgan Freeman as Thaddeus Bradley
Still TBC is whether now-retired actor Michael Caine will make an exception and return to the Now You See Me universe as Arthur Tressler.
New actors signed on to star in Now You See Me 3 include:
- Rosamund Pike
- Justice Smith
- Dominic Sessa
- Ariana Greenblatt
Back in 2015, Benedict Cumberbatch was tipped to make an appearance in Now You See Me 3, but we fear that ship may have sailed way, way into the distance.
Release Date
Now You See Me 3 will arrive in cinemas on 14 November 2025.
