Who won? Who scored? And how much money was raised? We've got all the answers...

Robbie Williams arrived in Chelsea last night with a whole host of celebrities in tow. That’s right: it was Soccer Aid 2024, an annual celebrity football match raising vital funds for Unicef. This time, the match was staged in Chelsea FC’s stadium Stamford Bridge for its 13th instalment. Here are all of the highlights.

Who Won Soccer Aid 2024?

England won Soccer Aid 2024 for the first time since 2018, with a score of 6–3. Kicking off at 7.30pm on 9 June 2024, the match was a tense nine goal fixture against World XI, smashing the previous goals record of seven, which was achieved in the second ever meeting in 2008.

The World XI team is still narrowly beating England in cumulative wins, with seven wins to England’s six since 2006.

A Brief History Of Soccer Aid

Soccer Aid was founded in 2006 by British singer Robbie Williams alongside TV presenter and singer Jonathan Wilkes. It took place every two years, but has been held annually since 2018. With every match being televised and garnering a huge in-person crowd, Soccer Aid has become the world’s largest celebrity football match – and it’s all hosted to raise money for Unicef.

Women first played in Soccer Aid in 2019, with Katie Chapman and Rachel Yankey playing for England and Brazilian footballers Rosana and Francielle joining the World XI squad. It wasn’t until Soccer Aid 2024, however, that a woman scored a goal: English former professional footballer Ellen White broke the drought, solidifying her reputation as England women’s record goalscorer.

In 2020, despite Covid restrictions, Soccer Aid still took place, just without an in-person crowd. The match was still televised.
