Will There Be The Lincoln Lawyer Season 4?

No official news just yet on whether Netflix will renew The Lincoln Lawyer for season 4, but we think the news will be confirmed after the streamer has had time to gauge season 3’s success. That said, the series’ showrunners seem very optimistic. ‘We always set up sort of the next case of the season,’ Dailyn Rodriguez recently told TV Insider. ‘This one won’t quite set up the next case, but it will definitely set up the next book.’

‘I think we can say this season will definitely propel us in a very exciting and personal way into season 4,’ Ted Humphrey added. ‘If the audience keeps enjoying what we’re doing, then we will keep making the show,’ hinting the duo has plans for the series up ‘a potential season 5 and even 6 beyond that.’

What Is The Lincoln Lawyer About?

The Lincoln Lawyer is an American legal drama centred on Mickey Haller, a defence attorney in Los Angeles who often works out of a chauffeur driven Lincoln Navigator SUV. Each season traces the arc of one particular case.

What Will Happen In Season 4?

So what’s next for Mickey Haller after that cliffhanger in the season 3 finale? Well, as Rodriguez hinted, the finale set us up for the plot we see in The Law of Innocence, which sees Mickey the subject of an intense investigation after the body of a former client is discovered in the back of his Lincoln. Ever the headstrong lawyer, an imprisoned Mickey opts to represent himself, mounting his defence from a jail cell in downtown LA.

The Lincoln Lawyer Season 4 Release Date

If it gets the green light from Netflix, we anticipate The Lincoln Lawyer season 4 will be released at the end of 2025 or in early 2026. So far, there has been a one year and two to three months gap between each of the first three seasons, meaning season 4 would land in December 2025 or January 2026.

Is It Based On A Book?

Yes, The Lincoln Lawyer season 3 is based on The Gods of Guilt (2013), the fifth book in Michael Connelly’s Lincoln Lawyer series in which LA defence attorney Haller investigates the death of his former client and friend, Gloria Dayton (aka ‘Glory Days). The whole Netflix series is based on Connelly’s novels: season 1 was based on The Brass Verdict (2008) and season 2 was based on The Fifth Witness (2011). So, if season 4 happens, it will be based on The Law of Innocence (2020).

‘We hope to adapt all the books,’ showrunner Rodriguez told TV Insider. ‘And may even go from there,’ Humphrey added.

That said, the universe is much larger than these seven novels: the main character across Connelly’s works is Harry Bosch, a veteran homicide detective in the LAPD – and Mickey Haller’s half brother. So far, 25 of Connelly’s 39 published novels feature Bosch, including The Reversal, The Law of Innocence and Resurrection Walk.

Bosch is the subject of his own TV adaptation – which ran from 2014 to 2021 and was simply titled Bosch – and a sequel series, Bosch: Legacy, running from 2022. Crossovers will prove difficult however as, while Netflix adapted The Lincoln Lawyer for the screen, Bosch was created by Prime Video.
