London Food Pop-Ups: Autumn 2024
Gasoline Grill At The Standard
Copenhagen is one of the world’s most esteemed foodie cities – but it’s not only the fine dining spots that garner attention. One of its best-loved hotspots is smash burger restaurant Gasoline Grill, which soared to fame after opening inside a gas station back in 2016. Now, the cult favourite has made its way to London for a pop-up at buzzy hotel The Standard. Head to its restaurant Double Standard to try one of the famed smash burgers – the menu includes The Original Burger, Cheeseburger, Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich, and a ‘Surf & Turf’ burger developed especially for The Standard. Pair with some crinkle cut fries and a beer from Two Tribes Brewery for the perfect lunchtime feast.

They’ll be joining forces in the Restaurant Story kitchen to cook a special tasting menu: highlights will include scallop quenelle with poached king crab, pumpkin agnolotti with pickled mushrooms, monkfish with roasted chicken emulsion, and a champagne baba dessert. The Parakeet x London Shell Co
Another exciting autumn pop-up collaboration: Kentish Town pub The Parakeet and seafood hotspot London Shell Co are teaming up for a charity dinner. It will be helmed by the two restaurants’ head chefs, Ben Allen (The Parakeet) and Fede Pollame (London Shell Co), who have worked together previously, with Allen sourcing much of his seafood from Pollame’s floating eatery. The pair will be cooking an eight-course sharing menu centred around seafood, kicking off with dressed oysters and The Parakeet’s famed potato bread with smoked butter. This will be followed by a series of new and old favourites from the two restaurants, including bluefin tuna crudo, cuttlefish merguez and the showstopping main: whole grilled market fish with roast pink fir potatoes. Better still, half of the proceeds from the event will go towards local charities: Queen’s Crescent Community Association, and The Kentish Town City Farm.
