Everyone’s talking about The Gentlemen, Guy Ritchie’s Netflix original series expanding the universe he explored in his 2019 film of the same name. Best known for his British gangster films (although his highest grossing flick is none other than Disney’s 2019 live action Aladdin), Ritchie knows a thing or two about gritty British culture, epitomised by flat caps, suave suits, ironic comedy and a good old local pub. The latter is so important to Ritchie that he owns a London boozer himself, called Lore of the Land. Fancy a visit? Here’s everything to know before you go.
Inside Lore Of The Land, Guy Ritchie’s London Pub
Tucked in the heart of Fitzrovia, right beside the BT Tower, Lore of the Land epitomises the classic British pub: friendly staff, refreshing pints, and gorgeously old-timey wooden interiors. But there’s one very famous face behind the whole operation: film director Guy Ritchie.

Behind an unassuming wooden facade – complete with checkerboard Tudor windows, a few wooden chairs and tables, and a striped awning – is a cosy interior, with walls clad in rich colours, warm low-hanging lights, and a shirted team of staff manning the buzzy bar.
Spread over three floors, Lore of the Land is a restaurant, too, dishing up a menu of British classics. Head upstairs to see today’s specials scrawled on a chalkboard held above the bar, and watch delicious plates being cooked up over charcoal and flame in the open kitchen. Expect fresh, often British-sourced ingredients transformed into delights such as Coal Roasted Celeriac Gnocchi, South Coast Brown Crab Risotto, a Lamb Rack or a classic steak served with jus, watercress and crispy shallots. Hungry? Don’t miss the generous Sunday roasts, featuring crispy beef fat roast potatoes, glazed carrots with toasted mix seeds, braised red cabbage, roast bone marrow and a fluffy Yorkshire pudding. Just choose between pork, lamb, beef sirloin, chicken or a combination of meats (sorry veggies, it’s the celeriac gnocchi for you).

If you’re not looking to dine but you’re peckish in the pub, the bar snacks are equally tempting, spanning British pub classics like crips and pork scratchings to the more extravagant Kitchen Snacks. Here, find a satisfying Pork Sausage Roll, Poole Rock Oysters with yuzu, a Creedy Carver Duck Scotch Egg and a Lore Doughnut for sweet-toothed punters served with salted caramel, fresh cream and caramelised white chocolate. Yum.
The Guy Ritchie references are sparse, but don’t miss the Gritchie pints, brewed by Ritchie’s small company on his Ashcombe Estate in Wiltshire.
