Fancy Japanese food in a beautifully designed balloon?

Love the idea of going in a hot air balloon, but scared of heights? We’ve got just the ticket. Surrey hotel Beaverbrook is bringing back its ultra-Instagrammable, stationary hot air balloon dining experience for the summer season.

A Sky Full of Stripes At Beaverbrook: The Ultimate Summer Pop-Up

This June, six balloons are popping up in the hotel grounds – created once again in collaboration with Summerill & Bishop. Decorated with the brand’s signature stripes in tones of raspberry red and rose pink, this year’s pop-up is themed around Italian gardens, set amid the grounds of the sprawling estate.

Guests will be treated to a Japanese-inspired dining experience curated by Beaverbrook’s Executive Development Chef, Wojciech Popow. You’ll begin with a selection of sashimi – including bluefin tuna, Japanese ceviche and Hokkaido cold water scallops. The main event of the meal will be centred around the Yakiniku grill, where guests will be able to sizzle up a selection of premium meat and fish: Kyushu Island wagyu, West Country lamb, Iberican pork and more. Finally, dessert will be a Japanese Baked Alaska, crafted to match the design of the hot air balloons.

To top it all off, your meal will be paired with a champagne flight from Moet & Chandon, designed to complement the dishes: a Brut Imperial to start, followed by a vintage Brut 2015 and then a Rose 2015. Alongside this, there will be a selection of summer cocktails, served from Beaverbrook’s famous Martini Pram. Each balloon fits a maximum of four guests, and will be decked out with a beautiful tablescape from Summerill and Bishop.

Keen to make a night of it? The hotel is offering a special Sky Full of Stripes overnight package, where you’ll enjoy a stay for two, kicking off with a bottle of bubbles in the room ahead of dinner in a hot air balloon as the sun sets.

Located in the heart of the Surrey Hills, Beaverbrook is one of the UK’s top country hotels, with a tranquil spa, multiple food and drink experiences, and an array of activities for all ages.
