The Farmer's Dog could be the first of many

Since opening its doors this summer, Jeremy Clarkson’s pub The Farmer’s Dog has been a big hit. Clarkson’s Farm fans have been travelling to the Cotswolds from all over the country to enjoy a pint and some food at the hotspot, which is set to feature in season four of the Prime Video show. However, the pub is still struggling to make a profit, with Clarkson describing ‘eye-watering losses’ in September. Perhaps that’s why the former Top Gear presenter has his eye on diversifying the brand?

Inside Jeremy Clarkson’s Pub Expansion Plans

According to reports, Clarkson has plans to launch a series of pubs in the future (hence his alleged new nickname, Jezzaspoon). It’s thought there could be plans to roll this out under the title ‘Hawkstone Filling Station’, which Clarkson has recently registered with the UK Intellectual Property Office.

Documents say this could cover a range of services including ‘services for providing food and drink; temporary accommodation; bar services; bars; pubs; public house services; hospitality services; information, advisory and consultancy services in relation to all of the aforesaid’.

Another clue comes from the website for The Farmer’s Dog, which writes: ‘The Farmer’s Dog is the first Hawkstone filling station. But it’s not just a pub, it’s a whole day experience.’

It’s all rumours right now, but a source reportedly told The Mirror: ‘Jeremy is hungry for success in the pub world and he’s planning a few more boozers up and down the country. And some of his circle have been calling him Jeremy Wetherspoon and Jezzaspoon.’

There’s also talk that Clarkson could have plans to expand the brand elsewhere, including into the realm of prepared meals and sandwiches, and even home goods, such as crockery sets, aprons and knives. No doubt this would be sold at Diddly Squat Farm Shop, which already stocks things like Hawkstone beer, seasonings and coffee.

For now, though, The Farmer’s Dog is open from Wednesday to Sunday. The pub serves dishes created using produce solely sourced from British farms, including a Sunday carvery, while food truck The Farmer’s Puppy offers takeaway breakfast and lunch fare.
