Is This London’s Best Pub?

This hotspot has been crowned the capital's finest (and it's not The Devonshire)

London is home to thousands of pubs, many dating back centuries. However, a modern pub that opened just a couple of years ago, The Audley Public House, has beaten its historic competitors in the National Pub & Bar Awards 2024.

National Pub & Bar Awards 2024: Winners Announced

Mayfair’s The Audley Public House has scooped up the prize for London’s best pub, following the announcement of the long list of county award winners back in April.

The venue opened in 2022 following a revamp of long-standing inn The Audley – a project helmed by Artfarm, the hospitality arm of Hauser & Wirth. Paris-based design and architecture studio Laplace gave it a stylish new look: think deep mahogany wood panelling and brown leather booths, with an eclectic display of art lining the walls and ceiling. And while it has a sleek, modern feel, the pub still oozes charm and character, with many original features remaining.

Food is also a fundamental part of the pub, with a menu spearheaded by chef Jamie Shears. There’s a focus on seasonal produce – some from the group’s own farm in Somerset. Visitors can enjoy classic bar snacks like sausage rolls and scotch eggs ahead of hearty pies and fish and tips, and on Sundays there’s a stellar roast with all the trimmings.

Beer, meanwhile, comes from independent supplier Sambrook’s Brewery in Battersea (one of London’s oldest) alongside an impressive wine list.
