This new nature-inspired tea launches this March
From the famous blue whale skeleton to first edition Darwin works and lion skulls, there’s always plenty to see at the Natural History Museum. But now there’s another reason to go: to try the museum’s brand-new afternoon tea.
Inspired by Nature: New Child-Friendly Afternoon Tea
Launching on 20 March 2024, this is the Natural History Museum’s first afternoon tea in its recent history. In-keeping with the venue’s overarching theme, the offering will be inspired by nature, featuring an array of sweet and savoury treats created by Benugo pastry chefs – with a focus on British seasonal produce.
Served in the The Annings Rooms, the experience will begin with finger sandwiches, such as coronation chicken, and British cucumber with black pepper crematta, plus a cherry tomato, red onion, Superstraccia and pesto tart. Follow with Earl Grey scones served with Cornish clotted cream and Tiptree strawberry jam, alongside a sweet pea and lemon cake. Vegan options will also be available.
Naturally, the tea will be child-friendly, with some fun themed desserts, such as an Earth pot filled with raspberry and chocolate, a dinosaur-footprint macaron, and an ammonite cookie. Enjoy alongside loose-leaf teas (and/or a glass of fizz for the grown-ups).
Why not check it out after a browse around one of the museum’s latest exhibitions? Current shows include the famed Wildlife Photographer of the Year and John James Audubon and his Birds of America, with new headline show Birds: Brilliant and Bizarre set to launch on 24 May 2024.
The Natural History Museum is one of the capital’s most famous museums and science research institutions, dating all the way back to 1881. It delves into the natural history of our planet, exhibiting over 80 million objects spanning 4.5 billion years, with departments arranged into five key categories: botany, entomology, mineralogy, paleontology and zoology.
The Natural History Museum’s Inspired by Nature afternoon tea will be available from Wednesday through to Sunday, 12pm – 3pm. benugo.com
