Cornus

Belgravia has just welcomed a new rooftop eatery, Cornus. Located atop Grosvenor’s five-floored repurposed warehouse The Ice Factory at Eccleston Yards, the restaurant comes from the duo behind esteemed Chelsea eatery Medlar, David O’Connor and Joe Mercer Nairne. Executive chef Gary Foulkes – who previously headed up Michelin-starred Angler – is leading the kitchen, cooking up a regularly changing menu centred around British and European seasonal produce. Think starters of sea bass tartare, and spaghetti with native lobster and Amalfi lemon, followed by mains of Lake District lamb with romero pepper piperade, and roast chicken with Scottish langoustines.

Designed as a celebration of the communal aspect of eating, the restaurant will be open from breakfast through to dinner, with a stylish Mediterranean feel which seamlessly transforms from a daytime cafe to an intimate wine bar. Pop in for some devilled eggs in the morning, visit for a long lunch of Iberico pork ribs and freshly made salads, or enjoy fish boards, charcuterie and cheeses accompanied by cocktails in the evening.

Kolamba East

Following the success of their Sri Lankan Soho eatery Kolamba, founders Eroshan and Aushi Meewella are back with a new London restaurant. This time they’re going east, opening the new branch at the meeting point of Spitalfields, Shoreditch and the City, with a focus on the food of their hometown, Colombo. The menu will include dishes from the founders’ childhoods, spanning the communities of Tamil, Moor, Burger (Dutch) and Malay descent. Highlights will include a large feasting plate of Moor King Prawn String Hopper Biriyani, made with alternating layers of steamed noodles and prawn curry, alongside red mullet in coconut, which sees the fish served in a creamy coconut curry. There will also be traditional Sri Lankan veggie dishes including spinach dhal and broccoli mallung, alongside a selection of sambols.

Marceline

Canary Wharf’s newest restaurant is Marceline, a chic spot which combines the timeless charm of Parisian brasseries with New York cafe culture. Robert Aikens – whose CV includes the renowned Le Gavroche – has crafted a menu of French-inspired dishes, with highlights including steak frites and rotisserie chicken. There will also be a carefully curated wine list focusing on independent producers, plus signature cocktails including the Two Sips Martini and the Absinthe Sour. Marceline has a suitably stylish interior too – think floor-to-ceiling windows, modern banquette seating and sculptural light fixtures, with an al fresco terrace for the summer months.

Momo dumplings

Eat Momo

Sisters Trishna and Dipa Chamling are behind Eat Momo, a new canteen in Borough Yards specialising in Nepali cuisine. Handmade dumplings known as momo are the primary focus, with fillings including chicken, pork, beef and vegetable – served alongside tomato chutney and spicy chilli pickle for dipping. Interiors are inspired by the principles of Vastu Shastra, a Hindu system of architecture designed to promote wellbeing and positive energy: think Formica tables, wooden stalls and polished concrete floors. When the weather plays ball, nab a seat on the small riverside terrace – or if you’re in a rush, grab some momo to go from the kiosk on Stonecutters Lane.
