Design News: What’s Hot In Interiors?
Free Daily Workshops At London Design Festival 2024
For LDF24 (14-22 September, londondesignfestival.com), Andu Masebo and Mikey Krzyzanowski are launching ‘Making Room’ – a gathering space in the Brompton Design District which will act as both reading room and venue for a programme of free daily workshops. The workshops aim to encourage people to engage with the world around them through design and experiment – the opening workshop will construct the same furniture the venue will use for the duration of its eight-day run. A series of global practitioners, including Gio Stu and Zaineb Abelque, will lead further workshops on anything from floral arranging to making paperweights that do more than provide weight. bromptondesigndistrict.com
A New Lamp Making Course To Try
Create Academy is a gold mine for those, like us, who adore interiors and also fancy getting a bit hands-on. Its latest course features British designer Chloe Johanson and teaches its students to design and construct their own lampshade from scratch. Finally: a use for your surplus textiles – and a chance to get crafty. createacademy.com
Harrods x Cole & Son Launch An Exclusive Wallpaper Collection
To celebrate Harrods hitting a big 175 years of vending luxury goods, Cole & Son have created ‘Couture Carousel’. The collection of wallpapers (and cushions) pay homage to Harrods’ fashion heritage. We’re particularly caught up by the catwalk on the signature design, which draws inspiration from vintage Harrods magazine covers. Haute! harrods.com
A Debut Sofa Collection From Two Lovely British Brands
Sink into the new season with the most incredible debut collaboration. Lorfords Contemporary and Todhunter Earle have put their heads together to create a fabulous selection of sofas, all handbuilt in the Cotswolds using FSC certified timber and responsibly sourced French feather and down. Think British tailoring with no stuffiness – these sofas promise plush snuggle ups. Launching at Focus/24, lorfords.com
You Can Now Buy Homeware From Cult Favourite Bakery In King’s Cross
Pophams is planning to take residency at Coal Drops Yard from this month through to January 2025 – and for the first time ever in central London, you’ll be able to peruse its homeware collection (in a curated edit). And, of course, there’ll be chance to pick up some killer mince pies, too. pophamshome.com
