Design News: What’s Hot In Interiors?
Fermoie’s New Collection
Fermoie has launched its new Marlborough and Ruffle collections, two pretty sets of fabric comprised of hand-drawn designs, and then produced in-house. Marlborough is a reinterpretation of large-scale woven English textiles – drawing from early damasks – evoking the image of the English rose garden. Ruffle is a more traditional weave, featuring an intricate ruffle pattern that creates a sense of texture and depth. fermoie.com
Swyft Home Dining Table & Chairs
Swyft Home (of flat-pack sofa fame) has launched a mid-century product duo we’re coveting desperately. The new dining table (Dining Table 01) includes extendable seating for six to eight with solid white oak legs and wood edging. The table has a real oak veneer for longevity. It’s paired with chairs (Dining Chair 01) made from a curved solid oak frame and the seating is available in leather, velvet, boucle or linen. Dining table from £999 and chairs from £398 for two, swyfthome.com
Free Daily Workshops At London Design Festival 2024
It’s LDF24 until 22 September – what’s on? Martha Davies has rounded up the what’s what for this fantastic annual design festival (read her full guide here).
But at a glance, the event we’re most excited for comes from Andu Masebo and Mikey Krzyzanowski. The pair are launching ‘Making Room’ – a gathering space in the Brompton Design District which will act as both reading room and venue for a programme of free daily workshops. The workshops aim to encourage people to engage with the world around them through design and experiment – the opening workshop will construct the same furniture the venue will use for the duration of its eight-day run. A series of global practitioners, including Gio Stu and Zaineb Abelque, will lead further workshops on anything from floral arranging to making paperweights that do more than provide weight. bromptondesigndistrict.com
