Elevated Scandi Minimalism
After more than a decade of Scandinavian-inspired interior trends, it’s safe to say that Scandi influence is here to stay in the interiors world. Take your pick from some the biggest from the last few years (Japandi, Hygge, Lagom) or combine all of them and focus on interiors that prioritise calm spaces and natural materials. Scandi minimalism is all about keeping a neutral palette, but enhancing living spaces with cosy details and natural fabrics: think sheepskin rugs, wool blankets and warm lighting, plus plenty of exposed wood and metal finishes. These serene and clean spaces make being at home more appealing than ever.
Quiet Luxury
Longevity is more important than ever when it comes to design choices. Not only economically, but environmentally, too. This year, we’ll be embracing quiet luxury and slow living, selecting quality crafted pieces that will last a lifetime. Martyn Whieldon, Managing Director at Samuel Heath told us: ‘Slow living emphasises thoughtfully curated interiors with pieces to be cherished. It highlights sustainable materials, natural fabrics, considered colour palettes, and a harmonious blend of old and new, where antique and vintage elements infuse individuality. Quiet luxury, on the other hand, is rooted in simplicity, understated elegance, and the use of high-quality materials and craftsmanship for a timeless aesthetic.’
This aesthetic is about looking beyond what’s trending and buying for the future. ‘Samuel Heath seamlessly integrates these principles, creating timeless, bespoke investment pieces from the finest sustainable materials. Our extensive range of brass finishes and customisable design options ensures every product reflects the individual. Crafted from the finest European brass by master artisans, our fittings epitomise quality and align with the quiet luxury trend, where skilled craftsmanship is paramount.’ Choose pieces that celebrate artisanal processes and craft, (see Samuel Heath’s Anthracite and Old Brass Matt finishes) and embrace warmth and comfort in rooms decorated in earthy, neutral tones that have timeless appeal. samuel-heath.com
Medieval Magic: Castle Core
Out with the new: next year we’ll be seeing a resurgence of medieval designs with castlecore predicted to be big in the interiors world. While this will be a spillover from fashion, where ‘ancient ruby rings’ and ‘mediaeval dresses’ searches are on the rise, this will be seen in interiors spaces with an increase in antiques, grand castle-worthy furniture like four-poster beds, and luxe velvet fabric. Read more about the Castle Core trend here.
‘Castlecore can be interpreted in different ways for all types of homes,’ Sydney Stanback, Global Head of Trends and Insights at Pinterest told us. ‘While it’s all about taking inspiration from medieval design and gothic interiors, you don’t need to own a castle to tap into the trend. Bring touches of Castlecore into your own home with ornate mirrors, deep-coloured velvet cushions, silver candlesticks and goblets. Or go all out with chandeliers, antique chairs and stained glass windows.’
Cocoon Bathrooms
While light, bright bathrooms have long been the go-to, deep tones are in for 2025, creating comforting, cocooning bathing spaces that you can really relax in. Lizzi Catchpole, Head of Design at Catchpole & Rye told us: ‘Deeper finishes, such as the rich tones of weathered copper, are redefining the ambience of modern bathrooms. These finishes introduce a sense of warmth and depth, creating an environment that feels calm and inviting—a sanctuary away from the busyness of everyday life. The understated beauty of weathered copper, with its subtle patina and natural texture, helps foster a slower, more mindful atmosphere.
While bright lighting and white-washed walls might be great for waking you up for the morning shower, a softer approach to your bathroom decor might lead to deeper relaxation. ‘This approach to bathroom design emphasises a cocooned feeling, where the space encourages relaxation and rejuvenation,’ says Lizzi Catchpole. ‘It’s about embracing the idea of taking time to settle into a room, allowing its soothing qualities to envelop you. A more restful palette, centred on softer, muted tones, complements these deeper finishes. By steering away from stark contrasts or overly bright colours, the focus shifts to creating a harmonious, restorative environment. This thoughtful design philosophy transforms the bathroom into a tranquil retreat, where every detail contributes to a sense of well-being and serenity. It’s an invitation to pause, breathe, and truly enjoy the restorative power of the space.’ catchpoleandrye.com
Joy Drenching
Joy drenching involves combining bold colours and sentimental decor to create uplifting spaces. It emphasises personal connection through meaningful items, such as handmade trinkets and family heirlooms. This is another trend with the appeal of longevity, as joy drenching fosters lasting happiness by encouraging people to decorate for themselves, experiment with colour, and repurpose seasonal decor throughout the year, ensuring a welcoming and authentic environment. This also taps into the trend for ‘primary play’ highlighted on Pinterest’s 2025 trend report, letting your inner child shine through and hand-painting murals or wall art in your home to add a playful touch to your home spaces. Mocha Mousse: Earthy Florals
OK, hear us out: we weren’t wowed by the announcement of a brown Pantone colour of the year, either, but on closer inspection, this might be one of the most universally appealing interior hues yet. Rich, warm and versatile, it’s a great base colour and can also be added with botanicals and floral arrangements. The earthy hue pairs perfectly with Lavendars and Lilacs, complementing its warmth and creating a harmonious bouquet that will work for any season. Floral and event designer Larry Walshe told us: ‘One can use Mocha Mousse tones as a fantastic base which can then be punctuated further using a variety of additional tones to create a memorable scheme which is both style savvy and timeless in appearance. Adding in pops of lavender or warmer coral tones will totally transform the look into a scheme which is much more rich in detail and interest. Swapping hues of Mocha Mousse for previously used whites and ivories offers a softer colour transition and results in a far more sophisticated overall look.’
The palette works well for tablescaping, too. Larry says: ‘Layering tones atop one another is a fantastic way to create a contemporary or style-savvy look. When doing this, we recommend using a multitude of differing textures so that interest and sophistication are realised. For example, Italian linen, layered with stoneware plates, precious stone napkin rings and Mocha Mousse candles. The differing textures ensure a look which is rich in interest but at the same time is so refined, it cannot possibly be anything less than perfection.’
Cherry Red
Mocha Mousse not doing it for you? Go bolder with a splash with the other hue making waves in the interiors world for 2025. ‘Cherry Coded’ has been named as one of the biggest trends of the year by Pinterest, with searches for ‘cherry vibe’ up by 325% and ‘cherry bedroom’ up by 100%. Predicted to be particularly popular amongst Gen Z and Millennial groups, dark, sweet, rich cherry red hues are expected to be big in fashion and interiors. Sydney Stanback, Global Head of Trends and Insights at Pinterest told us: ‘Cherry red is an alluring and vibrant colour which adds elements of playfulness and warmth to a room. Think about adding subtle touches through throws, cushions and lampshades, or really embrace the trend with red sofas, feature walls and even wardrobes.’
Painted Ceilings
Textured walls and ceilings are going to be big in 2025, as we look to utilise every inch of home space to express ourselves. Wallpapered ceilings, exposed wood panel walls and textured plastering are all on the agenda, but personally we have a forever penchant for a fresco ceiling; though if painting directly onto wet plastered ceilings is all a bit too much, opt for simple acrylics painted onto a flat white eggshell primer. Pinterest is awash with inspiration.
Primary Colours
If joy drenching isn’t, in fact, joyful enough, try out the Primary Play trend and inject some serious colour into your home. Whether you opt for ‘cosmic cobalt’ or ‘energising yellow’ (or stick to some trusty unexpected red), there are plenty of ways to experiment with bold shades.
