Itching to give your home a makeover in the New Year? Interior designers have already predicted plenty of the biggest trends we’ll see in 2025, from bedroom and bathroom styles to kitchen design, but there’s another thing to consider: wallpaper. Here’s the verdict on wallpaper trends for 2025.
2025 Wallpaper Trends: The Rundown
Oversized Florals

Whether you’re tackling a feature wall or fixing your sights on the ceiling, floral wallpaper is always a good place to start – and its popularity is set to continue into 2025.
Tying into the biophilic design trend, ‘wallpapers featuring lush, oversized florals, tropical plants, and intricate botanicals’ are predicted to dominate next year according Elizabeth Rees, co-founder of premium wallcoverings company Chasing Paper.
Maximalist Patterns

Has the desire for dopamine decor been and gone? Elizabeth argues that it’s here to stay, predicting an increase in ‘vibrant colors, jewel tones, and bold prints such as animal patterns or abstract art.’
‘2025 is all about adding cinematic scenes, maximalist patterns and rich colour schemes,’ confirms designer Avalana Simpson. Bedrooms are a particularly brilliant blank canvas: while you might prefer to curate a serene, neutral backdrop, colour drenching with deep shades like blue or burgundy will create ‘a place to escape and feel cocooned,’ Avalana adds. ‘As modern maximalism comes to the fore, people are learning to cherry pick clashing patterns and colours to reflect their personality.’
Feature Wallcoverings

Luxurious feature wallcoverings are another buzzy trend prediction for 2025. Lucinda Quirk, associate director of Taylor Howes, anticipates a demand for ‘embroidered wallpapers, trompe l’oeil and tapestries’ – all of which will help to transform your space into a veritable work of art.
‘Brands including Zardi and Zardi and Watts of Westminster produce exquisite hand-embroidered wallcoverings in traditional floral and heritage patterns,’ she notes, ‘while de Gournay’s wallpaper range for Howes & Landino features mesmerising celestial scenes, hand-embroidered with sequins.’ Experimenting with textures and materials allows you to make a real statement, even in smaller spaces.
According to Lucinda, the popularity of feature wallcoverings is driven by clients ‘seeking a bolder, more distinctive look. As with the colour drenching trend, designers are now flooding rooms with patterns – using the same motifs on walls, ceilings, curtains and furniture – to create a fully immersive experience.’
Cabernetcore

Red, it seems, isn’t just an autumn favourite – or solely a Christmas colour. ‘Expect to see colour-drenched burgundy bedrooms in 2025 as cabernetcore takes over,’ confirms Alex Francis, Head of Operations at Comodo Living.
‘Moody colour palettes are being used to create dramatic, intimate spaces,’ adds Elizabeth, ‘complemented by gold or brass accents for a sophisticated look.’
Intricate Murals

For a particularly immersive look, wall murals are set to bee a big hit in 2025. ‘Advances in digital printing allow for customizable wall murals, where homeowners can select or create their own patterns,’ explains Elizabeth. For something more classic, however, go for ‘large-scale landscape scenes, from serene forests to coastal views, which are sure to create immersive environments, bringing the outdoors inside.’ The best way to create an immersive room, however? Ceiling murals.
‘We’ve seen a rise in the ‘fifth wall’ concept,’ explains Avalana, ‘bringing colour and pattern right up to the ceiling. I predict that this trend is going to go one step further into cinematic ceiling murals.’ It might feel like a risk, but there’s no better way to create a spectacular space.
