St Margaret’s School in Bushy hosted a STEAM learning festival to inspire primary school pupils.
What is a STEAM festival?
A STEAM festival celebrates Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics, giving pupils the opportunity to take part in exciting activities.
A number of pupils from Little Reddings Primary School and Ashfield Junior School were invited to attend.
Children spent the day participating in workshops and sessions led by TA Education, including a Lego coding challenge where they had to programme a robot.
Other activities included using VR headsets to create their own 3D space and using video editing software to create movie clips.
Head of St Margaret’s School, Lara Pechard, said: ‘Events like these are super important because they encourage pupils to work together in a focused way and to come up with thoughtful solutions to real-word problems. It has also been wonderful to welcome more children into our school from inside the local community.’
Miss Hyams, a teacher at St Margaret’s School commented: ‘It has been really inspiring to see our pupils challenge themselves in new ways and to grasp these exciting opportunities and concepts with both hands. The children were fully engaged in all of the activities, which for many, were totally new experiences. They, like all of the teachers, also learned lots of new skills while having a great deal of fun in the process.’
