The ultimate shopping destination for Netflix bingers
Consider yourself a hardcore Netflix fan? Then this might be the event for you. The streaming giant has just announced the As Seen on Netflix, a one-day-only pop-up shop stocked with trinkets and treasures from some of our favourite shows.
How To Visit The As Seen On Netflix Pop-Up
While once a mail-only DVD rental service, now Netflix is the home to some of the biggest (and most-watched) shows and films in the world. The streaming service releases more than 100 original titles every year – and, with them, a whole host of props, costumes and keepsakes.
But what happens to these items once the final episode has aired? Well, this month, a number of them will be going up for sale in As Seen on Netflix, a pop-up shop set up in collaboration with UK mental health charity Mind.
‘As Seen on Netflix is more than just a pop-up shop; it’s a celebration of incredible fan communities,’ said Anne Mensah, VP of UK Content at Netflix said. ‘Fandom has an extraordinary ability to bring people together, creating connections and community around a passion for stories. Our fans are the heartbeat of everything we do at Netflix, which is why we’re so excited to create this opportunity for fans to own a piece of the shows and films they love, and support the important work done by Mind.’
All proceeds will be collected directly by Mind. The money raised will help fund the charity’s mental health services, including online peer support community for adults, Side by Side, and helplines offering free and confidential advice.
‘We know that when mental health issues are explored on-screen, they can hold real power in helping us to understand our own experiences,’ highlighted Sarah Hughes, CEO of Mind. ‘Right now, we know that increased mental health support has never been more important. Two million people are currently stuck on waiting lists for NHS services, and many more feel unable to reach out for the help they need for fear of discrimination, being judged, or not being taken seriously.
‘That’s why we are delighted to be joining forces with Netflix for this very special partnership, to make sure no mind is left behind. From exclusive props to iconic wardrobe pieces, there really is something on offer for everyone, and every item sold will help us be there for even more people who need us. This includes through our services and network of local Minds, campaigning for change and challenging stigma, to make sure everyone can access the support they need.’
The Highlights
The TV treasure trove will be stocked with a whole host of items from some of Netflix’s top shows – from niche background props and wardrobe pieces to unique memorabilia. There’s hoodies from Top Boy, signed scripts, props from One Day and a pair of Levi’s worn by Benedict Cumberbatch’s character Vincent in ERIC.
Ans speaking of fashion, there will also be a range of designer items worn in Netflix titles up for grabs. These include a Balenciaga top from The Gentlemen, a Corteiz mask from The Kitchen, Studio Nicholson boots from Black Mirror and a pair of Margiela jeans from Bodkin.
Heartstopper fans will be in for a special treat, too. In celebration of the arrival of season 3, the pop-up shop will have a number of items from the series available to purchase, as well as a replica of Charlie’s bedroom for fans to explore and take photos with.
And you won’t have to worry about breaking the bank with your purchases, either. In-store items at As Seen on Netflix will be set across a range of prices, with some items on sale for as little as £1.
When & Where Is The Pop-Up?
The As Seen on Netflix store will open for one day in London (Bethnal Green Road, London E2) on 12 October 2024, before heading to Birmingham (The Bullring, Moor Street, Birmingham B5 4BU) on 19 October 2024.
