The Livat Back To Uni Sustainable Style Swap: All The Details

Second Hand September kicks off with a bang at Livat Hammersmith, as the retail destination is set to host an exchange pop-up exclusively for students. Aiming to educate on sustainable fashion alternatives, the Livat Back To Uni Sustainable Style Swap invites local students to bring in their preloved items and trade them in for up to six preloved pieces on the shelves.

The Livat team will also be giving students the chance to win 10 Livat Gift Cards, worth £10 each, which can be used to stock up on essentials before the term starts.

‘At Livat Hammersmith, we’re absolutely delighted to be offering something totally unique to students,’ commented Memo Hussein, Meeting Place Manager at Livat Hammersmith. ‘We’re always looking for ways we can encourage our visitors to buy more sustainably so we’re excited to see where this event can help us to evolve in the future.’

The Sustainable Style Swap will be hosted in partnership with Sophia Lorimer, founder of styling service Fine Tuned Wardrobe. ‘Sustainable fashion is what my business is all about, so I’m thrilled to be bringing part of this to Livat’s initiative,’ said Sophia on the event. ‘Educating a younger audience is imperative to change how we consume fashion, and this is a great place to start.’

Sophia will curate a capsule collection of pre-loved clothes, comprosed of popular high street and premium brands, that will be available for exchange at the event.

Learn To Crochet

London-based knitting and crochet collective, Colechi, will also be hosting Craft Club sessions, where visitors will be able to take part in free crochet sessions using old clothes and second-hand yarns. All sessions will be run as drop-ins, with no booking required.

Exchange Items

Items available in the exchange will be colour-coded and categorised by current value, before being displayed on a ‘shop floor’ for visitors to browse through. Each visitor will be able to bring up to six items for exchange, for which they will receive one swapped item. Any surplus items will be re-donated to charity at the end of the event.
