Vivienne Westwood 2025 Bridal: Everything You Need To Know

When it came to finding a muse for its 2025 Bridal Collections, Vivienne Westwood turned to the first bride to choose white for her wedding gown: Queen Victoria. Drawing on her propensity for breaking tradition and setting trends, the new collections merge high Victoriana with contemporary cuts and silhouettes – spotlighting brides who share the same ‘fierce, independent spirit’ as the former monarch.

But that’s not where inspiration stops. The brand took a holistic overview of the queen’s life, focusing in on the moments that highlighted her love for her husband, Prince Albert. This means the collections also feature references to Queen Victoria’s black period of dress as she mourned the loss of her life partner. Alongside classic white gowns, you’ll find outfits in shades of black, as well as white with black detailing. ‘The Vivienne Westwood 2025 Couture and Made-to-Order Bridal Collections are presented as an ode to love: an honour to the everlasting vow,’ said the label.

As is now tradition, the brand’s 2025 bridal offering is split into two collections: Couture and Made-To-Order.

Couture

Vivienne Westwood has created nine gowns for its 2025 Couture collection, each exploring how innovative draping and construction can create new bridal silhouettes. The brand has really drawn on the playful side of the House this year, as the team experiment with scale (micro minis versus maxi trains), texture (lace overlaid with floral tulle cut-outs) and adornments (broken pearls, black ribbons and sheer puff sleeve gloves).

But the crowning glory of the collection comes in the form of three gowns: the Queen, the Marie Antionette and the Olivia. The first features a mini tulle petticoat accentuated at the hips with extravagant bows that tie and flow down the body; the second is also a mini petticoat, but this time adorned with layers of lace and tulle and teamed up with a voluminous lace train; and the third has three-dimensional organza roses and dramatic sleeves, with a cinched waist for an elegant silhouette.

Made-To-Order

The Made-To-Order offering is comprised of eight new gowns plus a series of separates and accessories. Designed to be mix and matched – or ‘transformed’, as the brand says – the collection builds upon the foundations of Vivienne Westwood bridal with romantic, understated designs and the classic corseted, cinched waist.

Highlights include the Lace Minerva, a piece inspired by Andreas Kronthaler for Vivienne Westwood SS24 gown; the Nova Bagatelle, featuring a heart-shaped bodice and full skirt; and the Victoria, a drop-waisted gown whose volume was created by the brand’s signature diamond pattern cutting technique.

As mentioned, Vivienne Westwood’s 2025 Made-To-Order Bridal Collection also contains a number of transformational styling pieces and accessories. Highlights include detachable trains, voluminous sleeves, and gloves in tulle and lace embroidered with pearls or roses. Veils span short and sweet to classic cathedral length, while other detachable components include a fichu blouse (complete with tulle or lace sleeves and hood), a voluminous overskirt and a classic corset.

Hand-crafted locally in England, the collection was made with a combination of delicate recycled nylon lace and an organic double georgette silk, as well as crepe satin, soft stretch satin and heavy stretch satin sourced through specific forestry standards.
