The brand joins the ranks of over 6,000 certified B Corps worldwide
British skincare brand Elemis has announced the exciting news that it is now a certified B Corp company.
Elemis is Officially B Corp Certified
It’s official: the B Corp gang has a new member. Premium beauty label Elemis joins a community of over 1,000 British companies that are B Corp certified, having been recognised by nonprofit network B Lab for its high standards of social and environmental performance. The announcement comes nearly two years after the brand began its application, with Elemis scoring an impressive 93 points (a good bit higher than the B Corp minimum score of 80).
‘We know that ELEMIS is going to be a fantastic addition to the B Corp community and will continue to drive the conversation forward,’ said Chris Turner, Executive Director of B Lab UK. ‘This is an exciting moment because they have an opportunity to lead the way within the beauty industry and help to spread the idea that we can redefine success in business to be as much about people and planet as it is about profit. The world needs more brands like ELEMIS who create real, long-term value for their customers, communities, workers, suppliers, and the environment, alongside their shareholders.’

How did Elemis achieve B Corp status?
When it comes to making a B Corp application, the brand applying is assessed over five key areas: governance, workers, community, environment, and customers. A B Corp certification is considered one of the most comprehensive measures of social and environmental excellence, with emphasis on practice, transparency and corporate accountability. Some of the topic priorities outlined by B Lab, the accrediting body, include environment, biodiversity, human rights, climate protection, employees and customers.
When putting together its application, Elemis created a new sustainability strategy upheld by six key pillars:
- Sourcing Accountability: The brand is committed to working with suppliers and supporting regenerative farming programmes, so that it can ensure full traceability of its supply chain and improve it water consumption and impact on the land.
- Protect & Restore Biodiversity: Elemis will set a new focus on carbon sink projects. A recent example is its peatlands restoration project, which sequesters carbon for up to 60 years.
- Energy Efficiency: Elemis has pledged to reduce its carbon emissions across its value chain, and has begun using renewable energy in all of its facilities.
- Smarter Formulations: The brand will be creating new products that use natural ingredients combined with nature-based biotech, to help reduce its environmental impact and preserved biodiversity.
- Packaging Minimisation: Packaging will reduce in size and be swapped out for recyclable alternatives and recyclable content, as well as reusable containers.
- Empowering People: More focus will be placed on health and wellness, diversity and inclusion, with a working culture that prioritises impactful relationships across staff, farmers and charities.

What are people saying?
The team at Elemis are equally as thrilled with their new achievement. ‘If the last few years have taught us anything, it’s to be kind, not just to ourselves or to each other but to our planet too,’ commented Oriele Frank, Elemis’ Co-Founder and Chief Product & Sustainability Officer. ‘We wholeheartedly believe that this certification is just the beginning for a B Corp business – we will use this as our baseline – if we do not measure, we cannot improve.’
‘We have always considered our impact on people and planet to be as important as our results-driven formulas and treatments for healthy skin and body. Being certified to the highest verified standards of transparency and accountability provides further assurances to our customers that we do what we say we do, and that we’re committed to driving long-term positive changes as a responsible, ethical business while delivering exceptional skincare,’ added Noella Gabriel, Co-Founder and Global President of Elemis.
Sean Harrington, Co-Founder and CEO of Elemis, also said: ‘We are so proud with our B Corp certification, one of the world’s most stringent voluntary certifications for environmental and social impact. We know that business can make a big difference to society and the planet and B Corps are accelerating a global culture shift to redefine success in business to build a more inclusive and sustainable economy. We’ve joined thousands of businesses who, like us, believe in being a force for good.’
