London’s luxury hotel scene has gone from strength to strength in 2023, with the dawn of Raffles at the OWO, the Peninsula London and The Chelsea Townhouse. Come 2024, this new hotel will be all the rage: Mandarin Oriental, Mayfair. And, naturally, with a brand spanking new hotel comes a sleek new spa to match. Here’s your first look at what we can expect.
21 Beautiful Day Spas To Visit In London
First Look At Mandarin Oriental, Mayfair’s Spa
First thing’s first, like many of London’s sanctuaries, this spa will be subterranean, submerged beneath the shiny new hotel and cocooning guests away from the street-level bustle. Designed by Tokyo based studio, Curiosity (who have also designed the public spaces throughout the hotel), expect the most advanced wellness tech to accompany your visit, including new-to-London biohacking treatments designed to synchronise with brain waves and induce a meditative, relaxed state. Yes, really.
But as for the spa itself, visitors can expect all the luxurious modcons, including an indoor 25-metre heated swimming pool, sauna, vitality pools, experience showers and steam rooms, along with a state-of-the-art gym. With a concept centring on ‘a hub of nature and art’, Curiosity has designed a sleek and stylish wellness space that draws on the greenery of Hanover Square beyond the hotel’s walls. Upon arrival, guests will be welcomed by a sculptural green Ming marble reception desk and an earthy palette of natural materials: wood, stone and warm bronze. Lighting will emulate candle light, soothing and instilling calm immediately.
On the treatment menu, bespoke rules the day, as do the highest quality brands specialising in science and sustainability, including:
- Results-driven ‘Swiss Perfection’
- Naturally pure, scientifically proven brand ‘Seed to Skin Tuscany’
- CBD-infused ‘OTO’
Along with the incredible sounding biohacking treatments (the future is here), guests will be able to indulge in treatments exclusive to this very spa, including two special treatments inspired by local surroundings: the four-handed Tranquillity of Mayfair massage therapy, and the signature Elegance of Mayfair facial. Other treatments include a series of NAD+ vitamin boosting IV infusions designed to alleviate symptoms such as jet lag or hangovers, as well as offering immune-boosting support. Meanwhile, the hotel group’s Asian heritage will shine through signature treatments like the Oriental Qi ritual, which works on the energy of the meridiens’ using essential oils from Mandarin Oriental’s bespoke range created by Aromatherapy Associates.
With a focus on holistic wellness, Mandarin Oriental, Mayfair will also partner with Bodyspace who will provide a suite of hyper-personalised lifestyle performance services focussing on improving longevity and quality of life. This spans personal training, a multi-function fitness centre, swimming and fitness assessments, nutritional consultations, physiotherapy and compression therapy by NormaTec, and technology used by elite athletes to improve recovery and performance. Plus Pilates fans are in luck: the hotel will host one of Bodyspace’s exclusive commercial grade, digitally connected Pilates Reformers with an ever-growing library of over 100 results-driven, on-demand workouts
The Spa will be a sister to the wellness space at London’s original Mandarin Oriental hotel in Knightsbridge.
