To find your Venus sign, you’ll need to know the date and time of when you were born. ‘To find your Venus sign, begin by searching online for a natal or birth chart generator or download an astrology app,’ recommends Lisa Lister, an author and modern-day mystic. ‘Put in the details that the system asks for – it’ll usually be the time, date, and place of your birth. This will generate your natal birth chart.

‘Good news is that most online generators and phone apps offer both a visual map and a written summary that will tell you exactly which astrological sign and house each planet is in,’ she continues. ‘To find your Venus placement – the astrological sign and house that Venus was in the moment you entered Earth side – start by looking for the symbol that resembles a handheld mirror on your natal chart; it will be, at most, two astrological signs behind or ahead of your sun sign.’

Can It Influence Our Attractiveness?

So, where does Venus come in at the salon? As Tina Farey, Editorial Director at RUSH Hair, explains: ‘When it comes to choosing hairstyles and colours, your personality plays a huge role. ‘Of course, many clients will come to us already set on what they would like to have done – particularly those who are very organised and plan-focused, like Virgos and Capricorns,’ she continues. ‘However, many clients also come to us lacking inspiration, and are looking for suggestions and recommendations. Some zodiac signs that are more prone to the indecisive trait are Libra, Pisces, Cancer and Gemini.’

‘A playful sign, I would suggest a gorgeous pastel tone,’ recommends Tina. ‘This specifically is great for an Aries who may not want to opt for something too bold and vibrant, but still want a very fun and playful look.’

‘Earth signs, meanwhile, are super sensual,’ says Lisa. ‘They’re sensual all about high-quality and all things luxe. They’ll be much more considered when choosing outfits or hair styles or a lipstick.’

Instead, think of it more as a fun guide to decision-making. ‘I don’t think you have to use your Venus sign to choose your hairstyle and colour, no,’ says Lisa. ‘But I think that knowing your Venus sign can support you to make good choices that will amplify and enhance your style.

‘Your natal Venus placement, while not diagnostic, is definitely a starting point for exploration as it can offer you intel and support in living your truest, most heart-led expression,’ she highlights.

It’s also worth keeping in mind that you Venus sign is simply one small part of a much larger whole. ‘You don’t have to consult your Venus sign, but it can help with some things,’ says Zakariya. ‘Really, you need to look at the entire chart as a whole, as different planets will rule different parts of your life. Learning about these components all together can really aid you to make positive changes that are in harmony with your astrological destiny.’

What Do Stylists Say?

While a fun tool, you don’t need to rely on your Venus sign to get the perfect look. In fact, some stylists would even say you shouldn’t. ‘There are so many different things to consider than just your Venus sign,’ confirms Tina. ‘One of the most important is your face shape. Although your Venus sign may suggest that you should opt for a more creative hairstyle, like a pixie cut for example, this may not work for your face shape. A pixie cut is best for those who want to add balance, so works better for more angular face shapes. Your stylist can also help tailor a haircut to you so that it looks more with your overall features.

‘Hair texture should also be considered when opting for a new hairstyle,’ she continues. ‘Those with fine hair will want to consider styles that will give the appearance of thickness, such as blunt ends or long layers.

‘And finally, when it comes to hair colour, you will also want to consider your complexion,’ Tina says. ‘Choosing the correct hair colour will compliment your skin tone, whereas choosing the wrong colour will do the opposite and can make you appear dull, dreary and washed out. Chat to your hairdresser about the colour you would like, and they will provide suggestions on how to tailor this to your skin tone. For example, if you would like to opt for a red shade and you have a fair skin tone with a cool undertone, a red shade that adds warmth such as a cherry or ruby red is a great choice.’
