Where to find the prettiest trees in the city
When we’re not staring into festive windows, admiring Christmas light displays or skating across London’s ice rinks, then you’ll find us hunting down the city’s top tree hotspots. And this year, our favourites come courtesy of the biggest names in fashion, jewellery and beauty. Not sure where to start? We’ve rounded up the best designer Christmas trees in London (and where to find them).
Where To Spot Designer Christmas Trees In London
The Londoner
Boutique hotel The Londoner has opted for a (wedding) white Christmas this year, partnering with acclaimed British bridalwear designer Kate Halfpenny to decorate its festive tree. Drawing on the creative’s signature flair for contemporary silhouettes and maximalist romanticism, the tree comes kitted out with oversized white bows crafted from repurposed bridal fabric offcuts, alongside monochrome discs made to look like giant gold coins (a clever nod to the Halfpenny name).

The London EDITION
Those visiting The London EDITION this Christmas can see a slice of India in the capital, courtesy of the hotel’s festive tree designed in collaboration with Ashish Gupta. The fashion designer, known for his playfully vibrant creations, draws inspiration from his childhood memories in India – specifically, memories of assembling an old tinsel tree inherited from his aunt. The resulting creation is a kaleidoscope of colours and textures – created using tinsel that Gupta has collected over the years – lit up with an array of lights shaped into chilis, bunches of grapes and stars.

Claridge’s
It’s usually the tree that kicks off festive season in London – and this year, Claridge’s does not disappoint. Handing over the reins to British designer Paul Smith, the hotel’s 2024 Christmas tree is 20ft and comes decked out in colourful baubles, ribbons and more than 100 bespoke birdhouses, created in partnership with the artist Nik Ramage. And while you won’t find any presents under the tree just yet, the collaboration does feature a series of wooden creatures sat around the base of the tree.

Selfridges
Beloved department store Selfridges has kitted out all its windows with festive scenery this year, in a massive collaboration between jewellery designer Andrew Logan, fashion designer Charles Jeffrey and multi-disciplinary creative Flaminia Veronesi. The team have helped create a series of grottos inspired by festive maximalism, including a window dedicated to jewel-toned trees piled high with decorations and presents.

Aqua Shard
It might not feature boughs of pine needles, but Aqua Shard’s Christmas tree is truly a sight to behold this festive season. The British fine dining restaurant teamed up with Editions De Parfums FrĂ©dĂ©ric Malle on the installation, harnessing the French perfume label’s sleek and glamorous aesthetic for an artsy finish. The resulting 23ft-tall red and silver Christmas tree comes complete with giant chrome baubles – as well as a backdrop offering panoramic views of London’s skyline.
