Pantone Has Announced Its Colour Of The Year For 2024

Every year, colour enthusiasts eagerly anticipate the arrival of Pantone’s viral colour trend forecast. The colour in question, which remains top secret until December, is predicted to influence everything from clothing and makeup palettes to wallpaper and packaging. And the results are in: the Pantone Colour Of The Year 2024 is Peach Fuzz.

It’s official, we’re going to see everything through peach-tinted lenses come 2024. Pantone announced its Colour Of The Year for 2024 just this morning, introducing Peach Fuzz, which the global colour authority describes as ‘a velvety gentle peach whose all-embracing spirit enriches mind, body and soul.’

As many people who follow the trend know, Pantone tends to pick its colours with reference to what it would like to see and encourage in the following year. A light and rosy hue not too dissimilar to golden hour, Peach Fuzz is all about softness and warmth – a stark contrast to the turmoil many people have endured around the world in 2023. The Colour Of The Year is a response to this turmoil, and a call for a more nurturing, empathetic and compassionate mindset while navigating 2024.

Dubbed ‘a fresh approach to a new softness’, Peach Fuzz is an emphasis on all things sweet and airy. Think fluffy clouds, flowers at sunset and light rays peeking through blush-coloured feathers. It’s also a calmer colour, compared to 2023’s Viva Magenta or 2022’s True Red, signalling a shift towards gentleness and sophistication. ‘Poetic and romantic, a clean peach tone with a vintage vibe, PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz reflects the past yet has been rephrased to have a contemporary ambiance,’ says Pantone.

Global messaging is a key part of the identity of Peach Fuzz, with Pantone indicating they want to use its calming shades to communicate a desire for togetherness, community and collaboration.

What Is Pantone Colour Of The Year About?

The Colour Of The Year is a trend forecast created by Pantone to predict which colour will dominate across fashion, beauty, interiors and design for the upcoming the year. The colour in question is chosen during a secret meeting of representatives from various nations’ colour standards groups, with the meeting hosted in a European capital.

Colour Of The Year was first set up by the Pantone Institute in 1999, with the first colour, Cerulean, forecasted for 2000. Through the years, it’s become a globally recognised trend that many brands and trendsetters follow.
