The Country & Town House Responsible Buyers’ Guide
Hunter
Downpour Boot, ÂŁ100
Is false spring over? The upcoming weather forecast certainly says so. Battle the bank holiday rain in a pair of Hunter’s new Downpour Boots. Completely waterproof and reinforced with extra grip, these are shoes you want on your feet when navigating the British countryside or stepping through a drizzly city.
Laneige
Bouncy & Firm Serum, ÂŁ31.20
TikTok-favourite Korean beauty brand Laneige has just dropped a brand new serum that promises to perfect the bounce and glow of skin – leaving it looking visibly plumper, firmer and smoother. And it’s backed by a pretty impressive ingredients list too: peptide water, collagen complex and niacinamide to support even texture and barrier protection; vitamin C, vitamin E and algae oil to help nourish and revitalise the skin; and peony extract to enhance your natural glow. And with its lightweight consistency, the Bouncy & Firm Serum delivers a deep boost of hydration without any stickiness – making it the perfect addition to your spring routine.
Nobody’s Child x Elizabeth Scarlett
Yellow Embroidered Pouch, ÂŁ32
A gorgeous new collaboration between British labels Nobody’s Child and Elizabeth Scarlett launched this week, combining the duo’s shared love of craftsmanship, creativity and ethical fashion into a capsule of dresses, denim, pouches, wash bags and accessories for grown-ups and kids. Inspired by the whimsical feeling of spring, the Nobody’s Child team worked with Elizabeth’s original watercolour paintings depicting pressed flowers and shells, as well as the designer’s signature sun and earth goddess icons, applying them to garments and accessories using dainty embroidery techniques. In celebration of the collection launch, Nobody’s Child and Elizabeth Scarlett have also donated ÂŁ10,000 to the Devon Environment Foundation via Conservation Collective, in support of the charity’s work to protect and restore endangered native species at the grassroots.
ThruDark
Dissident Canvas Jacket, ÂŁ180
ThruDark’s new Dissident line is all about those everyday, durable staples that you can wear wherever and whenever. Comprised of overshirts, jackets, trousers and shorts, the utility-focused range promises to not only feel good, but look good too. ‘Our Dissident range is about giving you something to wear in your downtime that remains durable and retains that ThruDark DNA,’ says ThruDark co-founder Staz Stazicker CGC. ‘Our community is growing at such a rate and we recognise that not everyone spends their weekends climbing mountains or hitting the peaks and this range is for those who want the same ThruDark look and feel that they can wear day to day.’
Penhaligon’s
Fortuitous Finley Eau de Parfum, ÂŁ245
The latest addition to Penhaligon’s growing Portraits series is Fortuitously Finley, which pulls together notes of spice, leather, violet leaf, cardamom and pistachio. ‘All bets are off. For who could resist this stallion’s fragrant allure?’ asks Penhaligon’s. ‘With a sweet yet sensual start, it’s easy to get lost in this labyrinth of leather and spice… A stable scent for a wild horse.’ Your signature spring scent has arrived.
TASAKI
Balance Signature Ring, ÂŁ3,180
TASAKI’s line of stunning SAKURA Gold pieces takes its cues from the ‘delicate, graceful hue of cherry blossom.’ The metal itself is warmer than conventional rose gold, and when decorated with Akoya pearls its really pops under the spring sun. Our pick is the Balance Signature Ring, which features a five pearls organised in a row to give the illusion that they’re floating delicately above the wearer’s hand.
Dr Nyla Skincare
7-Colour LED Face Mask, ÂŁ695
Whether you’ve spotted skincare buffs on TikTok wearing them or listened to dermatologists rave about their benefits, LED masks are the hottest piece of kit on the market right now. The experts’ pick? The 7-Colour LED Face Mask from Dr Nyla Skincare. ‘Using seven different wavelengths of LED light, it targets a wide range of skin concerns, from reducing wrinkles and fine lines to brightening the complexion and treating acne,’ says Dr Nyla Raja, a cosmetic doctor and dermatologist. ‘Unlike some other LED masks, it is designed for deep penetration without high temperatures, making it safe and effective for all skin types.’
MERIT
Flush Blush, ÂŁ26
LA beauty brand MERIT has teamed up with Sephora on a one-off pop-up, coming to London this weekend (5 and 6 April). Setting up shop in Covent Garden’s Piazza, the pop-up will give visitors the chance to shop its products – and try them out first-hand via mini makeup artist masterclasses. You can find out more about the MERIT x Sephora pop-up (and how to visit) with our guide here.
Chantecaille
The Blanc Peony Collection, from ÂŁ204
Ready to embrace a seasonal refresh? Then you’ll want to tap into Chantecaille’s new Blanc Peony Collection. Launching today, the line of creams and serums uses a powerful Multi-Brightening Complex (combining thiamidol, white peony and botanical peptides) to create a visibly luminous, even skin tone and improve the appearance of dark spots. The result? A radiant springtime glow.
Mint Velvet
Yellow Pinstripe Waistcoat, ÂŁ99 & Wide Tailored Trousers, ÂŁ120
While we often see a resurgence in sugary pastels come spring, nothing could have prepared us for the butter yellow boom. This sunny hue is everywhere right now – in interior design, beauty and fashion (runway to high street) – and is poised to become the colour of the season. We’re channelling buttery tones with this waistcoat-and-trousers combo from Mint Velvet – but if tailoring doesn’t spark any inspiration, we have plenty more ideas in our style guide here.
Damson Madder
Frilly Hand-Painted Platter, ÂŁ55
It’s safe to say that the matcha craze is here to stay – and it’s providing plenty of inspiration in the interior design world, too. Our latest obsession? The strawberry matcha aesthetic. A playful blend of green and pink, the trend is making its way across decor and soft furnishings, and has even found a home amongst cabinets, side tables and even feature walls. Dip your toe into the trend with this pretty painted platter, perfect for matcha-inspired tablescaping (or showing off to friends and family).
RIXO
Amari Midi Dress, ÂŁ245
Spring has officially sprung – which means it’s time to ditch the heavy coats, scarves and gloves in favour of light knits, trainers and pretty dresses. Sitting high on our wish list this season is RIXO’s Amari dress, decorated in a light blue pansy print and featuring an adjustable tie front. For more spring dress inspiration – plus ideas on how to wear them – see our edit.
