Round the World by Train: The Journey
Departing on March 17, 2026, this exclusive itinerary has just 12 spots available. The journey spans continents without the need for flights, utilising rail and boat for the ultimate slow travel adventure. Departing from London, travellers will journey eastward through Europe, Asia, and North America before returning to Southampton by sea. The trip features iconic rail routes plus two luxury cruises, and includes visits to 14 countries: France, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, China, Japan, Canada, and the USA. Director Jim Louth describes the trip as ‘the perfect mix of world-class rail travel with hand-picked immersive experiences in optimum comfort.’
Where Will The Train Go?
Passengers will experience some of the world’s most iconic rail journeys, taking in panoramic views from trains through Switzerland and Austria. The trip also includes overnight sleeper trains across Central Asia and high-speed rail in China to Xian and Japan’s famous Shinkansen bullet train. Another highlight will be the California Zephyr route through the Rocky Mountains in the USA.
Cultural highlights on the trip will include classical music in Vienna, a Turkish marbling workshop in Istanbul, wine tasting in Georgia’s Kakheti region, and a Uyghur singing experience in Urumqi. Travellers will also visit UNESCO sites like Khiva in Uzbekistan and landmarks such as China’s Terracotta Warriors and New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Additionally, two luxury cruises are included: a 23-day North Pacific Passage aboard Viking Venus from Tokyo to Vancouver and a seven-night Atlantic crossing on Queen Mary 2 from New York to Southampton.
How Much Will It Cost?
The price for the 100 day round the world train is £112,900 per person. A couples’ discount reduces the rate to £89,950 per person when sharing accommodations.
